Chapter 6: Getting to know you

Mina's POV

I actually agreed to tutor Chae... I know I am actually really busy but seeing her having a hard time actually making me sad. I know that feeling of not really fully grasping what you are studying and it is hard. I guess I just wanted to help.. this is not a crush..definitely not, just me... wanting to help

who am I kidding... i definitely like her.. I think ughhhhh 

She hugged me when I told her I am willing to tutor her...I swear she's too cute. I decided to take a bath before we study, I don't want to smell bad or anything ...I used my favorite cologne...I know it is nothing...just studying but still I don't want to leave a bad impression 

I decided to head out to the living room first, she's still not here though so I opened my books, one for pediatrics and one for cardio

I need to finish at least a chapter tonight, I already finished two more chapters this morning...

I was done reading two pages when she sits down in front of me with the same book in her hand. We studied separately for about an hour til I finished the chapter I need to read and suggested if it is ok to sit beside her. I hope she didn't notice that I had a goosebumps as our arms touched accidentally. I don't usually have these jitters when doing rounds with the patients... I guess it does today

"So what topics are you having a hard time at?" I asked. In teaching or in tutoring, before you start, you need to ask what your student already knows and what they are having a hard time with.

"well I finished the chapter that was assigned to us but this umm particular topic regarding different heart problems of pediatric patients such as trasposition of great arteries and tetralogy of fallot...those kind of things" she explaine

"Ohhh now I know where you are confused at...we'll start with the anatomy, I know this is a basic subject but this is actually a very important part as a building block in medicine...everything revolves around anatomy and you need to master that first...I guess you're just starting on the wrong topic but it is always nice that you familiarized yourself with the topic"

I discussed with her the diseases as short as I could so she could just do on her own additional readings. I can't help but just get amazed how fast she learns... she's actually really smart, she just need guidance on where to start. I can't also help but sometimes steal glances at her, she's really still a mystery to me...I mean she's an athlete and she's a medicine student...that's quite a combination that I don't see very often. I still haven't asked how she got into basketball, I guess it would be too weird to ask her that. 

After an hour of another studying, we didn't notice that our other roommates already got in the house. It is about 10 pm already and we just finished.

"Heyyyyy guys, omo you're studying together? that's cuuute" Sana says giving a wink at me. I blushed a bit

"Yeah, Chae needs help in Pediatrics" I explained

"Chae? you already have nickname for her? omooooo" Sana giggled. I swear Sana if you don't stop srsly

"I'm kidding you guys, anyway I think it is nice of you Mina to help Chaeyoung, she was really having a hard time this morning" Sana says

"Yeah, but Mina unnie really helped a lot" Chae smiled at me

"Thank you again Mina unnie, I guess I'll head to bed now...see you tomorrow" She said

"Waaait you guys haven't eaten yet right? I ordered food" Sana says

I realized we haven't eaten yet, I guess we were just to busy to notice....

After the food arrived, Dahyun, Tzuyu, Momo and Jeongyeon joined. We sat on the living room and decided to talk about each other. Nayeon and Jihyo still haven't arrived, I guess they got stuck with hospital and chart works again. 

"So guys can you like introduce yourself like give a bit of info about yourself, we would like to get to know you guys better" Jeongyeon said. Finally, I mean I didn't want to ask it cause it may seem like I am prying too much. 

"Yeah sure unnie, I'm Kim Dahyun...my favorite subject as of now is Medical Surgical... I just like the pathophysiology of diseases. Both of my parents are doctors and I guess I got to love it too...I can't imagine myself doing anything else. Sana unnie's parent actually knows my parents which is kinda small world." She smiled at Sana. Their smiles are different though, I mean Sana is the type of girl that flirts  with men and women but she doesn't actually really date them. She would want you to think you have a chance but in reality, you dont. I hope she's not doing that same thing with Dahyun, Dahyun seems like a wonderful woman and also quirky. 

"I am Tzuyu, I am a Taiwanese but I moved here in Korea because my parents also moved here...we've been staying for about 3 years already and to be honest, I really fell in love with your country. The people are really nice and have lots of aegyo. I am the youngest among us three and yeah I guess some says I am tall.. I'm kinda shy at times too" Tzuyu smiled a bit, she's tall but she's also cute and shy a bit. Momo actually said that she kinda fancy her a bit and it shows how Momo is looking at her. Momo really likes tall people. 

We turned now to Chae...I really like to know more about her

"I'm Son Chaeyoung, also born and raised here in Korea. Taking medicine is actually not my first choice but I realized after a while that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I am also part of the female basketball team here in our school." She said.... Momo, Sana and Jeongyeon are actually shocked ...I faked shock too by raising my eyebrows so that it won't seem obvious

"Woahhh really???" Jeong asked

"Yeah I know it seems kinda funny" she smiles "But basketball is really my first love but I realized later on that I want medicine more than basketball. I guess I kinda run fast and my size has advantages inside the court...so yeahh I hope you unnies could watch my future matches" She grinned

"But what got you into basketball?" I suddenly asked...they all looked at me...was that too personal? 

"It was in high school and the girls are usually into make ups and being k-pop idols...I like those things too but then our school started building teams for basketball, soccer, football and different sports, I decided to try all but basketball was the only one that actually accepted me and from then on, I started to love it." 

I just not, I can't help  but smile while looking at her as she tells her story. The sparkle in her eyes continue to appear and it is just refreshing, how her passion is clearly evident in her eyes.  

I want to get to know more of you Son Chaeyoung.
