"So... your mom's a bit tipsy." He chuckled light heartedly. I was glad he wasn't upset.
"I'm sorry..." I sighed quietly, biting my lip.
"Hey, don't worry about it, I just wanted to call to... well... just call. Aha, bit awkward, I'm sorry." He sounded shy, I couldn't help smiling.
"It's cute." I said a bit silently, not wanting to sound weird. I sat on my bed with my legs crossed and we talked for hours.
"Hey, we'll see each other soon, at the lake maybe?"
"Yeah, soon. Bye wish." I ended the call, laying back on my bed with my arms behind my head. I was about to close my eyes and sleep before I noticed a glimmer in the darkness. I still had my mirror. My fears all exploded back to life and I was terrified.
"Someone's getting more confident about herself very quickly I see. You think he likes you." A voice, it sounded like mine. "You like him. He is quite the sexy looking boy isn't he." I looked at my door, no one, my window, still no one.
"Why don't you go for him?" I heard the voice in my ear. I put my hand over my mouth to silence my scream, falling back out of my bed and hitting the wall. She was there, I was there. Her hair, the same colour... She was extravagant in her style; jewellery, perfect hair curling, not so bad looking makeup.
What was I thinking?! This wasn't me! It's a monster.
"Stop ignoring me." she complained, her head turned to me; her eyes hollow, darkness, like a empty shell.
"You.. You're not me!" I shouted at her.
"But I am, just a much prettier version." she cackled and flicked her hair over her shoulders. "Now as I was saying, why don't you go for him? Go to your mother's room, put on a bit of makeup. Get a bit 'playful' if you know what I mean." she looked at me with a evil grin.
But wait. She would've killed me by now. Maybe she couldn't, I hadn't made her real, if I look in that mirror and feel that I'm better than everyone else... She will be real.
I looked at the dreadful figure, stood up and brushed myself off.
"Go back to the mirror." I said, looking right into her eye sockets. Her grin turned into a horrifying, angry expression.
"What did you tell me?" she was stiff, like a statue.
"Go back, to the mirror." I was slightly scared, but she couldn't hurt me...
"I'll kill you..." She dived back into the mirror, leaving black sticky foot prints on my bed when she jumped. I kicked the covers away, I'm not planning to sleep on them tonight.
As I laid down I took one look at that mirror, all I had to do was never act like one of the other girls. easy enough, right?
I lay back down and use a blanket to cover myself, drifting off into sleep.
