Shanelle was sitting in front of her vanity mirror putting the last touches of her makeup on when her cellphone started ringing, without looking at the caller ID she answered it, "Hello?" she asked in a sing-song voice thinking it was Jaylin."You should be very careful who you give your cell number to," an all too familiar voice said.
"Roderick?"
"You already know who it is," he snapped.
Shanelle took the phone from her ear and looked at it in disbelief before she placed it back to her ear, "Roderick what do you want, and who gave you my number? I could have sworn when it was changed it meant I didn't want to hear from you. The way things went down at the club the other night, I would have thought you'd be smart enough to keep your distance," she said as she rolled her eyes.
Roderick let out a humorless laugh at Shanelle's words, "Do you honestly think I'm just going to let you walk away from me? You're nothing without me and no one, not even that little bodyguard of yours is going to keep me away from you. No one will!"
Wow, this fool has lost all his marbles! Shanelle thought to herself before she heard Roderick yell her name.
"What?! I have a date I need to get ready for and I don't have time to deal with this insanity you call a conversation," she yelled back.
"Why are you with that dude? Is he pity fucking you or what? He obviously hasn't seen you naked yet," Roderick said nastily.
"Ugh!" Shanelle screeched. "Why the hell are you so worried about what I'm doing? You wanted me gone. You chose to fuck around with different women. It was you that wanted the shit pile of a relationship we had over, so now that we aren't together deal with the shit and leave me alone!" she yelled into the receiver, hoping she ruptured his eardrum before she ended the call and threw the phone onto her bed.
Moments later Christy came walking into the room with a frown set on her face, "Who were you yelling at?" Christy asked as she sat on Shanelle's bed looking at her through the mirror on the vanity.
"Guess," Shanelle huffed as she reached for the hot curling iron. Christy saw how bad her hands were shaking and got up and took the hot curlers from her.
"Sit back sweetie and calm down. Don't let him upset you," Christy said as she started to curl sections of Shanelle's long hair.
"Just remind me to change my damn number in the morning. Can't believe he had the audacity to call me after all the bullshit he's put me through!"
"Shanelle, you need to calm down. You just did your make up and I'd hate for you to have to reapply it because you've sweat it all off from being so damn mad. You're going to end up looking like Lou Rawls," Christy joked, causing Shanelle to laugh despite the way she was feeling.
"You're so crazy."
"Yeah, I've been told that a time or two," Christy said as she smiled at Shanelle through the vanity mirror.
"So what's going on between you and Stephen? I mean you keep saying he's taking you out but I have yet to see that happen. What's up sis?" Shanelle asked changing the subject.
Christy shrugged. "We're supposed to be going out to dinner tomorrow night but he wasn't sure about how it was going to plan out due to a few glitches in his agenda. Hopefully he won't cancel again and we'll actually get to go out instead of just going to lunch when he feels like popping up."
Shanelle looked at Christy over her shoulder but before she could say anything, Christy popped her on her head. "Keep your head still girl unless you want to wear a burn mark across your cheek as a new accessory."
