A whole week had passed since Jaylin had last spoken to Shanelle. To him it felt like a lifetime. He loved her with all his heart and he needed her to know and understand that he would do anything to gain her love and trust back. He was lying on the couch staring aimlessly at the ceiling when his doorbell sounded. He slowly got up from the couch to answer the door. When he opened it, Destiny was standing there smiling like a Cheshire cat."Where's Jerimiah?"
"Are you going to let me in?" she asked sweetly.
"No. What do you want?" Jaylin asked once again as he crossed his arms across his chest. "Didn't you get the hint that I have nothing else to say to you if it doesn't involve my son?"
Destiny rolled her eyes. "I just wanted to know if we were going to be a family. Since your little girlfriend is gone, why not? He needs the both of us."
Jaylin frowned down at her like she'd lost her damn mind. "What in the hell gave you that idea? Destiny, I don't want you! That little girlfriend as you call her isn't going anywhere. I love her, you I tolerate because of our son. Regardless of the outcome of our relationship, you and I will never be together. We can co-parent. We don't need to be in the same home to do that. I'll take care of Jerimiah, but you on the other hand, hell no."
"But wha-"
"I don't give a flying fuck about you! All you'll ever be is my son's mother, nothing more. Get this through your head, I don't want you!" Jaylin yelled. "If you have nothing to tell me about Jerimiah, don't call me, don't text and definitely don't stop by. Save yourself the embarrassment and stay the hell away from me!"
Destiny's face told it all. She was horrified at the way Jaylin was speaking to her. She couldn't understand why he wouldn't want to be with her if she had his kid. If she couldn't have him then she didn't want the kid. Anyway she could get Jaylin back into her arms she'd do.
Jaylin glared at her for all of two seconds before he slammed the door in her face. He refused to have anything to do with her. He wanted his future wife back where she belonged– with him. He was more than prepared to do anything to achieve that even if it caused for her to bruise his jaw again.
A few days later, Jaylin had just gotten back from Austin when he saw Jordan's car parked in his driveway. He got out of his truck and walked over to where Jordan was now standing.
"Hey Joe, what's up?"
Jordan just mugged him and started walking towards the front door. Jaylin followed after him. When Jaylin unlocked and opened the door, he pulled off his suit jacket and walked into the living room and sat down, it was apparent his brother had something to say.
"What's up?"
Instead of Jordan sitting next to Jaylin, he continued to stand. "What did you do?" Jaylin frowned up at his older brother. "Don't act dumb with me, Jay! I know who and what you've been doing! How could you lie to Shanelle about your son? That girl loves you and you pay her back by lying to her? What the hell is wrong with you? I thought I told you to tell her before this shit got out of hand?"
"Jordan, I don't need you gi-"
"You are so damn selfish to keep shit that important away from the woman you claim to love. You betrayed her love and trust all because you couldn't find the balls to tell her you had a kid by the trashiest bitch I have ever had the misfortune of knowing! Had I known you were going to fuck this up, I would have told her my damn self."
"I apolo-"
"Shut up, I'm not done talking! Do you know you may never get the chance of being with that woman again, all because you kept secrets from her?" Jordan asked. When Jaylin just sat there, Jordan yelled for him to answer him.
