“I said I love you, is that not enough my lily,” Adonis was on one knee with a bouquet of white roses in one hand and the other hand gently stroking her left cheek in the softest of touches.
“I have heard my love, but we both know how this story will end," she said collecting the roses before standing up and walking away.
“You cannot just collect the roses and walk away, it is a two in one deal you accept the roses and then you accept my heart, so what would it be?" He asked her retreating back, this caused her to stop as she contemplated her next move.
If she left now it would break her heart forever, knowing he had loved her but they could never be but if she stayed then she knew it most definitely wouldn't turn out well. Either way it was a lose-lose situation.
“It would be a no," Pers said walking back to him to hand over the roses.
“Ah ah ah," he shook his head, "fair one, after accepting my roses, then I am afraid you have ultimately accepted my heart," he said with glee to which Pers grumbled, he just laughed putting each hand on both sides of her face and crushing his lips to hers for a soul gratifying second kiss. And it was just as sweet and perfect as the first one.
He had dreamt of her kisses for so long that she had appeared regularly in his life. When he was walking down the pathways he saw her, while bathing he saw her, in the grand kitchen, in the halls, in the courtyard and even when he was training. He just loved her, heart and soul but sadly she did not believe him. And who could blame her, she was a very beautiful maiden and every young lad even those not yet ripe for marriage wanted her. The maidens in her village were jealous of her and sometimes spoke to her rudely for this.
“Let me go Adonis, I have no time for such trivial things, I must attend to my father before he starts screaming my name," she said about to pull away when he held unto her body scarf, she did not expect this and was left exposed. Her fair skin revealed for the whole world to see and admire.
Adonis just whistled appreciatively, staring at her as if she were pure gold.
"Your beauty surpasses my imagination," he praised and watched as she turned crimson, shyly covering her belly with her hands while slightly bending.
"I'm sure you say that to every other girl, lads like you are no good," she spat jumping up to try and get her scarf from his hands, he was a good feet taller than her and no matter how high she jumped she could not even touch the ends of her scarf.
“Lad, lad?" He was offended and puffed out his chest in pride, "I am a full grown man-"
“A young one," she cut in and he huffed.
“who is ready for marriage, if you are not careful I will be the one to take you away from your babas house right now," he spoke arrogantly and she rolled her eyes before cocking her hips sideways.
“My baba will have your head if I walk out there without my belly scarf, it is a taboo in my culture to be unmarried and not wear the scarf the moment I come of age, and picking the berries by this time of the day is essential before they will lose their sweetness so let me go."
“I can't wait to adorn you with my tattoos; it would look so good on your fair skin.”
“I bet it would," she said rolling her eyes sarcastically, "hand me my scarf Adonis."
“Not before I receive a kiss from your sweet mouth," he said and she looked on blankly, staring at him for close to five minutes. "The berries will not wait," he goaded; she just raised an eyebrow at that before sitting cross legged on the rocky floor.
