There's potential in every story, but some don't get as much attention as others. That's because people DO judge books by their covers.
So you might as well have a good one to get that attention!
Steps to achieve a fascinating cover
1. Find good editing/creating software.
I highly recommend Canva. It is really easy to use, and has templates and good pictures.
It is actually how I make all of my graphics. There's also an app/website called Pixabay. Look up photos, download them, and use them. It's that easy! (Not sponsored by either)2. Find a good picture for a background.
Depending on how simple your book is, what it's about, or even just a character, the photo varies. It can vary more if you have a profile theme, like me.
I would choose a high-quality photo that has enough room for your title, or a few words.3. Title and color
Choose a font and color that sticks out. I made a little chart for contrasting colors:
Colors that contrast best
Black and white
Red and bright cyan
Orange and blue
Green and magenta
Dark colors and light colorsIf you have a theme, like me, but are writing a book that doesn't relate to it, find a picture that still has whatever your theme is, but only a little. Like the picture for this book's cover. It still has a cup of coffee, but plenty of room for words.
Fonts are also important. They sort of represent what the book has in store. I made a chart (with a Canva template) of mood and font types that go with it.

4. Additional tips
Make sure if you're using several fonts and colors, that they go well together. If they don't readers won't consider reading it as much.
The Wattpad cover size is 512 x 800, or any ratio to that.
Alternative Options
Or, you can go to a cover shop and request one.
I recommend fallenfern 's cover shop.
I also have one called Starry Nights on Cherry-Blossom-Cat (it's closed right now)
