I woke up early today, the sun was shining and the birds were chirping. I sat up and stretched my arms, this whole thing felt like a Cinderella story.
I bought my arms down and stared at my ruby bracelet, one of the rubies was missing. It saddened me a little knowing that it was gone, it took away from the beauty of the bracelet.
But all the less I turned and looked at my mum who was now standing in the doorway, a massive smile was spread across her features.
Her smile became instantly contagious as a smile spread across my features as well, I couldn't wait for tonight, it was going to be amazing.
I climbed out of bed and followed her downstairs, our pace was fast, a side effect to our excited states.
As I ate my breakfast, mum and I flicked through some magazines for outfit ideas. She pointed out some that were good, others that were okay and then there was a few that were downright embarrassing.
I wanted to go for a casual yet dressy kind of look, but not too dressy or I was going to look as if I was trying too hard.
That's when I found it, the perfect outfit. I screamed and clapped my hands in success, making mum almost fall from her chair.
I stopped and laughed at her expense, she laughed as well before asking me what I was carrying on about. I pointed to the outfit and she nodded, obviously impressed with my choice.
"Can I get it mum, please?" I asked.
"We'll see" she suggested, I hated when she said that. It always meant not now or not at all, I would have to nag her if I wanted this outfit.
"Please mum, I’ll be good for the rest of the week. I'll do the dishes, you'll get a break to yourself" I pleaded.
She bought her hand up and grasped her jaw, sort of like what men do when they're in deep thought. Not that my mum was a man, she's just 'different' like that.
She raised her brows in thought and looked at me a few times before answering, her eyes looking up and meeting mine. "I guess" she spoke, "but you better keep up those promises of doing the dishes, being good and allowing me free time to myself."
"Of course, thank you so much mum, I love you!" I almost screamed, I was so excited and happy that I ran around the table and hugged her.
She didn't oblige in hugging me back though, her feminine hands wrapped around my back and hugged me tightly. "You're lucky I love you, miss" she said, trying to sound stern but she ended up failing instead.
After breakfast we got ready to go shopping and driving to the marketplace, we drove for about half an hour before finding a park. The draining task of trying to find a car park, don't you just love it. Not.
After entering through the mechanical doors, we searched for a while before we found it. Its name was printed above us, at the front of the medium sized shop. I searched through clothing racks and shelves in order to find my outfit, as I looked around I saw my outfit on a manikin. I hate manikins, they're made with pinhole waists and barely there tummies, not that it was important anyway. It's like they're made to make you feel insecure, so that whatever is on them looks better than what it would on you.
But never the less I found my outfit, tried it on and got my mum to see if it looked okay. I walked out and did a little twirl for her, she nodded in approval and said "you look gorgeous sweetheart."
I grinned widely and nodded, "thank you so much mum!" I said and hugged her for the second time today. Eventually I let go of her and got changed, we then brought my outfit and headed home.
