WARNING: Despite the recent error first appearing at the end of Level 1.5 being patched, another time flux has occurred for as of yet unknown reasons. To rehash:
The events depicted are in a sort of time flux and do not necessarily happen chronologically and/or logically. Read at your own pace (and risk). Confusion and frustration are imminent.POV Switch: Emma "Double M" Emerson
"Sup, bitches?" Emma flashed them a grin as she hopped over a guardrail and landed in front of them, doing her best superhero landing, her right fist and knee meeting the ground with a thud. Ow. Not strong to enough to dent the ground, yet. She didn't let the brief pain of the action show.
"Fuck took you so long?" Lucy crossed her arms.
"Aw, miss me?"
"Don't be fucking coy." Lucy scoffed "Lucky I don't have my damn sword. Least these two have been good. Quiet."
Lucy motioned to the Quone and Elfin, before Emma could question Lucy's statement Elfin waved at her and muttered something unintelligible as she was gagged with a rag tied tightly around her mouth. Not even the Quone seemed to mind the silence.
"How'd you pull that?" Emma asked curiously.
Lucy had the faintest trace of a smile on her face as she shrugged. "I told her we could play a game: Shut the fuck up or I gouge out your eyes."
"Nice. Never heard of that one." Emma rolled her eyes. "I'm surprised her bestie didn't rip you apart."
"I'm not a risk she'll take..." Lucy mumbled. "Enough talking. Let's go."
Sheesh, with Leone gone she's even bitchier. Still better than Skinner.
"No more stops." Lucy said just loud enough so Elfin could hear at the back.
"And just where oh where are we going Ms. Midnight?"
"Call me Lucy or don't talk."
"Then where oh where are going L-"
"Quiet." She held up her right hand in a firm motion to get them to stop. "Firemen."
"Fuck. How many?"
"More than I count with one eye."
"Meh, we could take 'em."
"Don't be fucking stupid. They have weapons, armour, numbers. We have to go around."
"You scared?"
"Say that again. I dare you."
"And more threats. Someone's insecure. You're getting...easy to read, Lucy. It's boring." Emma clicked her tongue.
Lucy didn't say anything else as she guided their little estrogen party through the dark narrow paths of the CCC Lower Levels. Damn, really thought she'd take the bait and explode. She might be something else.
The Lower Levels were just a step above the Prison Ward, where all the half-assers and underachievers made their homes, alongside the creepers and lowlifes. Scum like Hemlock Delancey's crew the Question Markers or Rumor Matthews. The sun rarely shined and the guards didn't bother patrolling most nights, as Principle Vice saw to that..
"You know," Emma began talking instinctively to no one in particular, just to curb her boredom. "Me and Skinner were sent here to this shithole once. There were rumours of a rebellion brewing. A conspiracy against Grace Ironmonger, hah. Graces classified them as CAGI. Cagi, funny right? Apparently they formed in the wake of the Augustus Christopher campaign slayings."
