14.

It felt like they'd travelled miles.

It was starting to get dark as the sky was clouding over with dark rain clouds, the moon nowhere to be seen as no stars were twinkling in the sky. The air was cold as a strong wind had picked up and was whipping past them, stinging their cheeks that had run very cold.

Jimin shivered as he walked a head of Jungkook and Taehyung who were trailing behind. They were letting Jimin lead them to the elf world as they had no idea where they were going. It made them think about how they were going to get home. If they were going to get home.

Taehyung wondered as he was alone with his thoughts if he'd ever see his mother or sister again. He wanted to help Jimin but he had a family. What if he died and left them all behind, despite him trusting Jimin, he just worried so much.

Jungkook's parents thought he was staying at Taehyung's and had no idea this had all been going on, at least Taehyung's mom actually knew all about it and he didn't have to hide it. Like he said, he was so glad to have a mother who knew all about this.

Jimin suddenly stopped in his tracks as he turned and dragged Jungkook and Taehyung by the hand under an overhanging rock upon the cliff they were on. The rain began to pour furiously as the wind was even stronger and lightning flashed through the sky, followed by a huge roar of thunder.

"I can hear them, let's hide until morning" Jimin spoke quietly as he shut up when they heard huge feet along the floor, running. A snarl was heard as some barking too.

"Hoseok sniff around and make sure you actually do this time, we need all the help now since Yoongi is out for a few days" Namjoon was heard as he was then heard running off.

A loud sniffing was heard that was slowly getting closer and closer to them, their heart rates getting quicker and quicker before a huge thud was heard and a huge paw came into view.

A nose was seen sniffing along the floor as it turned in the direction of them, the wolf suddenly ducking as it peaked under, its yellow eyes staring directly at them.

Their faces lit up with fear as Hoseok was staring at them, growling lowly as he snarled. He quickly turned into his human form as he kneeled down, glaring at them although he did not move. He just sat and stared at their petrified faces.

"Have you found anything?" Namjoon was heard getting closer, Hoseok turning in his direction before he looked back at the three of them cowering under the rock. The three closed their eyes as they braced themselves to be killed.

"Nobody" Hoseok spoke

"Let's check over that way" Hoseok pointed over in an opposite direction as Namjoon was heard running that way, Hoseok giving them a look with a glare.
"Don't expect anything else from me" He whispered before turning back into his wolf form and running off after Namjoon.

Taehyung frowned as he turned to Jungkook and Jimin, the two looking back at him and at one another. Why did Hoseok just let them go like that? He could have easily just killed them or had them killed by Namjoon but he let them go. Was he different to the others?

"Let's stop here till morning, we're close anyway" Jimin suggested as Jungkook was quick to settle down for the night, lying on his arm as he let his eyes shut. It didn't take long for him to fall asleep as he was so tired from the hectic day.

"He's had a rough day" Taehyung noted as Jimin shuffled closer to him, right up next to him.
"Finding all this out before being thrown into something dangerous" Taehyung explained as Jimin nodded.
"I'm sorry you're both involved" Jimin spoke sadly as he looked at his feet.
"My mom said I'm your protector or something" Taehyung spoke as Jimin sniggered as he looked at him.

"You are" He spoke, looking into his eyes as they both had that feeling they got when everything else didn't seem to matter and it was just them two. Everything fell into place.
"Why me? What did I do to-"
"It's a choice you make. Anybody could have done it" Jimin explained, leaning his head on Taehyung's shoulder, cuddling up to him.
"You were just the only decent one to take me in" Jimin spoke as Taehyung realised that Jimin must be lucky to have a protector as not many elves left that world, meaning they didn't have protectors.

That lead to another question that had been circling in his head for a while. What did Namjoon mean by Jimin breaking the rules with humans?
He knew Jimin wasn't supposed to be here but was it a rule he's broken?

"Does that mean my mom was a protector?" Taehyung asked as Jimin nodded
"Your mom is a great one too" He spoke, sitting up again to look at him
"But you're better"
"What makes me so good?" Taehyung asked as Jimin leaned in, nuzzling his nose against Taehyung's as they Eskimo kissed, the two giggling at it.
"You're not just a protector to me" Jimin's heart fluttered. He wanted to tell Taehyung how he felt. How everything just seemed so perfect with him.

"You're-"
"I'm trying to sleep and all I can hear is you two being cute" Jungkook mumbled as the two of them looked at him.
"Goodnight" he snapped as he huffed, Taehyung mouthing to Jimin to be quiet as he nodded.

There was a silence that followed as Jimin suddenly grabbed a hold of Taehyung's hand, interlocking their fingers together as Taehyung noticed the size difference and couldn't help but smile at it. He had tiny baby hands.

"I have a question" Jimin spoke quietly, Taehyung humming in response as he could now feel the tiredness hitting him, his eyes heavy and drooping.
"From what I know about humans, you're born with a male and a female" Jimin spoke as he then turned to Taehyung.
"You only have a female"

Taehyung sighed as he ran his free hand through his hair, turning to Jimin fully.
"My dad left when I was young, he always fought with my mom and then one day he never came home" He told Jimin who listened to every word.
"Do you want to see him again?" He asked as Taehyung thought about it before shrugging.
"Not really. I don't consider him my dad" Taehyung spoke honestly.
"By the sounds of it my mom never loved him anyway" Taehyung turned to Jimin who thought.

"I have a friend who knew a human when he was younger, he loved her too" Jimin shrugged.
"Wait you hear humans are created by males and females? How are elves created them?" Taehyung asked as Jimin laughed, wondering how long it would take Taehyung to realise what he said.

"We're made from a potion. You have to go through all sorts to get it but once you're born you kind of just learn from everybody and you're not restricted to your parents" Jimin spoke
"That's why I always say I don't have anybody to go to since my parents are just like every other elf in that place" Jimin sighed
"I'm lonely" He spoke sadly, looking down, only for his chin to be lifted as Taehyung cupped his face.
"You have me Jimin" he spoke, rubbing their noses together again as Jimin giggled at it, Taehyung's face lighting up in a box like smile.
"You'll never be alone again"

Jimin smiled gratefully as he leaned his head on Taehyung's shoulder, his eyes drifting shut as his body fell heavy against Taehyung, catching his attention.

He couldn't help but smile at the sleeping elf as he just looked so peaceful, despite all that way going on in his life. He didn't deserve this. He was so sweet and kind and caring. All he wanted was a little bit of fun by the sounds of it.

Kissing his forehead, Taehyung rested his head against Jimin's as he slowly allowed himself to drift off to sleep.
