Ava pulled her hood over her head and started walking down the road that lead away from her house, grateful once again that her parents had bought her a house a few minutes away from town. She wanted some peace and quiet when she moved here, and Ava definitely got some, that was, until Ray revealed himself to be a fucking vampire.

"What am I going to do about that?" Ava pondered, wrapping her arms around herself, staring at the ground as she walked. The dirt crunching beneath her feet helped calm the anxiety she was feeling and cleared her head.

"I could just start ignoring him, but I can't do that. I promised him I wouldn't leave him or think of him differently. I just wasn't expecting him to be a vampire. Hell, I just thought he was going to tell me that he killed someone before," Ava muttered under her breath, taking a right turn so she was facing the small town that was near her house.

"But no, he revealed himself to be a fucking vampire, and to make things even worse, he bit me. Bit me and drank my blood. How weird is that?" she ranted, knowing that she had to get all of this off of her chest before she could make a clear decision. Ava's dad taught her that lesson at a very young age, that before she made any important decision, she needed to clear her head and get everything off of her chest first.

"I wonder how often he feeds, or how often he needs to feed to stay healthy," Ava muttered to herself, feeling a stab of regret for how she reacted and how she treated Ray. All he was trying to do was be honest with her, completely honest, and share a secret that he was terrified of sharing with anyone.

She couldn't even blame him for being so scared of sharing his secret with anyone. From what he had briefly told her about his past, it sounded like his parents and the people around him were monsters who wanted their son and comrade to be exactly like them. Ava couldn't even imagine being raised like that, seeing nothing but blood from the day she was born and being forced to kill people. He couldn't even stop himself, even though it sounded like he tried incredibly hard to do so. Ava decided that she was going to have to talk to him about this some more in detail, not only out of curiosity, but to also calm the doubtful voice in the back of her head that was constantly calling him a monster for what he was and what he did.

"Fuck, I'm so about to do this aren't I?" she asked herself, chuckling darkly as she picked up her phone, her thumb just barely hovering over the call button, "But do I want to? That's the question though."

Ava looked up and scanned the area, wondering where she was, only to be surprised by the fact that she was standing in front of the cafe. As she looked at it, Ava couldn't help but smile at the memories she had made there, all of them with Ray. They would come here every day after their classes to study and do homework. Multiple times, Ava had to ask Ray for help, and he would always laugh before helping her.

Without any more hesitation, Ava pressed the call button, bringing the phone up against her ear, her heart racing as it continued to ring. After a few moments, Ray answered.

"Ava," he said softly, almost hesitantly.

"Ray, I have a few more questions to ask you before I can give you my final answer," Ava replied before continuing, "Is there any chance you turned me into a vampire? How long has it been since you last fed, before me obviously, and how often do you need to feed to be healthy."

"No, there is no way I turned you. In order to do that, I need to drain you of almost all of your blood, and then have you drink mine. It's a very complicated process. It's been a few months since I last fed, and I usually only drink from animals. As for how much I need to feed, I don't understand how that is relevant, but if you must know, at least once a week," Ray explained, his voice still hesitant and soft.
