"Sorry, sorry, sorry," Tyler cries into Josh's shoulder, hugging his neck.
"Hey, hey," Josh whispers for the millionth time, "Ty, there is nothing to be sorry for, absolutely nothing."
Josh gently rocks the upset boy in his lap, trying his hardest so the boy can relax.
"Sorry," Tyler mutters, seeming to have calmed down from being rocked.
Sighing, Josh reaches his arm out to get the little stuffed cockatiel that was at the foot of the bed. Leaning back with the stuffie in his hand, he brushed the soft material on Tyler's arm making the little peek out from Josh's chest.
"Hey, buddy," Josh whispers, "Do you want him?"
The brunet nods, reaching out to take the stuffie, pulling it close to his chest. Josh holds Tyler for a while longer, the boy still crying.
"Honey, why are you sorry?" Josh frowns.
Tyler snuggles closer into Josh's hold, taking shaky breaths. Josh brushed his fingers through the younger boy's brown hair, quietly reassuring that he shouldn't be sorry for anything. About half an hour passed before Josh spoke again.
"Hey, buddy, what kinda clothes do you have packed in your bags?"
Tyler sniffles, clearly not wanting to respond, let alone talk.
"Well, do you have shirts?"
"Mhm,"
"Pants?"
"Mhm," Tyler giggles, knowing what word was coming next.
"Underwear?" Josh says with a smirk, on the verge of laughing because of the boy.
Tyler sits up with the cockatiel to his chest, now laughing.
"Mhm!"
"Do we need to get you more? I'll be happy to buy you new clothes, hun."
Tyler's eyes widen. He shakes his head quickly, not wanting Josh to spend any money on him. The boy squishes his beloved stuffie to his chest, resting his cheek on the bird's head.
"Cutie." Josh whispers to himself.
Tyler yawns and looks at Josh with wide eyes. The elder of the two stretches his back, yawning as well.
"How about we go shopping for some new clothes? Then we could go out to eat if you want, what'd ya think of that, Ty?"
Tyler thinks for a moment. After a minute or so he nods, holding out his bird for Josh to take. Josh takes the bird carefully, giving Tyler a wide smile.
"Well, let's get ready then,"
* ^ *
"Josh?"
"Yes?"
Tyler had been very nervous about buying new clothes with someone else's money. He didn't like feeling like a burden no matter how many time Josh assured him he wasn't.
