Three tiny kits, lied curled up in a small ball, all of them sound asleep. Their mother, a beautiful grey she-cat was snuggled up close to them. All of them were in sync, their breathing almost identical. One kit twitched her ginger paw while a small brown and grey she-cat was mewing in her sleep.

All was peaceful in this small two-leg home, everything was perfect, warm and cozy. The air was warm, growing warmer by the moment. The queen's ears pricked. Her eyes fluttered open with her lifting her head. Her bubble gum pink collar jiggled with her movement.

She sniffed the air, something was wrong. She carefully got out of her nest, leaving her three kits alone. A small black and white tom felt his mothers presence gone. He poked his head out of the nest, looking at the Queen walking away carefully.

She was careful where to set her paws, the house was quiet, too quiet. She padded upstairs to the main part of the house. When she reached the top. A loud, overwhelming noise over came her. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Smoke was everywhere, filling her lungs and making her feel dizzy. She started to panic. She didn't know what was wrong but there was danger. She raced through the home, looking for her house members. She raced into the kitchen to feel a huge sense of heat on her face. Her face felt as if it were melting off of. A large blaze of fire engulfed the kitchen. Hearing the screams of her house members stuck in the blaze was terrifying to the cat. The roof above her started to collapse from the large fire. Another loud sound was heard from outside. The queen was in panic, what was going on?

She didn't have time to think, she realized that she was trapped with this blaze and her kits were stuck in the nest below.

The queen quickly raced back to her nest, trying to dodge falling pieces of the home from the ceiling. Racing down the steps, all three of her kits were looking at her confused.

"Mother, whats wrong?" the only tom asked.

"Come with me kits" She said "we need to leave."

"Why?" asked a ginger tabby she-cat.

"Because, something bad is happening, quickly kits, follow me" she said. The kits stumbled out of the nest and followed the queen up the stairs clumsy. The smallest of them all, a tiny brown and grey she-kit struggled to climb up the stairs, acting as if each staircase was a mountain.

The queen and kits quickly tried to make it past the blaze of the fire. A broken window was near by, giving the queen an idea. She grabbed the black and white tom by the scruff and leaped up to the window before leaping out. She set him down on the grass far away from the burning home before turning around and trying to get the other kits. When she climbed back in. Her other two kits were no where to be seen. Panic over came she she-cat. She frantically searched for the two she-kits with the fire blazing harder. Her fur and whiskers started to singe and her ears started to crisp and burn.

"M-mother" coughed a small voice. The queen raced over to see her two she-kits. A house beam had collapsed and one of her kits was crushed underneath the beam, her body burning int he flames. The smallest kit was stuck. Her back left leg stuck between the beam covered in flames and the wall. The queen tried to pull the kit out but it was no use. The kit struggled, looking frantic and freaking out with her leg stuck.

The queen started to feel dizzy and weak. Her fur feeling like it was melting off of her body. She took all of her strength and grasped the kit, yanking her out of the beam. There was a loud SNAP! The kit screeched in pain with her leg all torn and burnt up. The queen staggered to the window and escaped the burning home. She collapsed on the grass, feeling the cold through her body.

The she-kit was whimpering in pain, barely able to walk. The tom was confused and looked at his mother.

     "Mother, whats happening?" he asked.

The queen grunted, trying to stand up, her legs so weak and her burnt and singed body hurting with every movement "c-come with me kits...i-i know a place i can take you..."

     "Where?" the tom asked.

"To your father" the queen mumbled, picking up the brown and grey she-kit in her mouth and began making a painful and long journey, away form the burning house.
