“Well, well, well. What do we have here?”

“This isn’t funny Jason, leave me alone.”  She muttered.

“I beg to differ, don’t you boys?” She cheered.

A roar of laughter and synchronised ‘Yeah’ surrounded Ellie. A thousand thoughts ran though Ellie’s mind, trying to pull together a getaway plan but every idea came to the same conclusion.

“What do you want?”

He stepped forward making Ellie automatically move backwards into the newly formed barricade.

“You’re not going anywhere but a hospital.”

Ellie tried to run but a member of the barricade had latched onto her shoulders and pulled her back. Two others grabbed her arms and bound them. Jason stepped forward, swung his fist into Ellie stomach making her scream in agony. The second blow made contact with Ellie’s jaw, making her spray blood out of her mouth, some of the droplets landed on Jason’s jacket.

“You little bitch.”

He seized Ellie’s hair forcing her to look at his jacket.

“Look what you have done. Your disgusting blood has ruined my jacket. Let her go.”

Ellie fell to her knees; she leant forward and coughed up more blood. She titled her head in hopes that they had gone, but as she turned, Jason had thrust his leg and kicked Ellie in the temple. Partially making her unconscious, she could not move but she could feel everything that they were doing to her. Kicking, punching, stomping, she could feel everything. She endured it all for ten minutes before Jason had struck her head once more, making Ellie black out.

“Hello?” Ellie shouted.

She pivoted around searching for anyone, anything.

“Is there anyone there? Please? I don’t know where I am! Please help me.” She cried out.

There was nothing, only darkness. A faint voice spoke, Ellie could not hear what or who they were.

“I-I can hear you!” She shouted.

“Oh my poor baby, who did this to you?” The voice spoke again, now getting louder.

“Mum? Mum, I’m here. Where are you?”

“It’s okay sweetie, I’m going to get you better, you will come back to me.”

“Mum, please. I’m here.” She cried.

Ellie fell to her knees and sobbed.

“Miss Dayne, I’m afraid to say, but-“

“No!” She shouted.

“Miss Dayne, please listen, there is no sign of any activity. She’s gone.”

“Don’t you dare say that! You can do more!”

“We can’t Estelle, there is nothing we can do.”

“Mum? What’s going on? Please, I’m scared, I don’t know what to do.”

“I’m sorry.”

This darkness, that surrounds Ellie, it was not like closing your eyes or the dark from the night. This was soul devouring darkness; it did not make Ellie tired or hungry. No way of escaping it, you could only tolerate it.

“Thank you Miss Dayne, I won’t be long.”

Ellie sprung up and searched for this voice.

“I could kill him, that animal!” The voice shouted.

“C-Clark?”

“I’m sorry Ellie, I’m so sorry. I’m going to do everything I can to bring you back, you have to come back, we can’t do this on our own.”

“Clark! I’m here, please hear me!” She screamed.

“Clark, visiting hours are over.”

“Can I come see her tomorrow?”

“Of course.”

“Lady Arielle. Please, follow my voice.”

Ellie whirled around in the direction of the unacquainted voice.

“Hello?”

Ellie saw a glimpse light in the far distance, without a thought she started to sprint towards this foreign glow. Standing in the light was an old man accompanied with two old women, she did not recognise these people, as she got closer she started to slow into a walk.

“Come Arielle, there is much we must show you.”

“Who are you?” She croaked.

“We are Ancients.”

“Where am I? What am I doing here? And why can I hear my mum and my friends but not see them.”

“Calm yourself Lady Arielle, all shall be revealed in time.”

“Step in the light.” The elder woman spoke.

Ellie did as they said, when her second foot became illuminating the scenery changed instantly, she was no longer in darkness but in a field.
