After that, he had dragged an unwilling me out of the library with all of my books, parchments and raven feather quill left unattended on the wooden desk. Despite my protests, he didn't even stop or say anything.

"Cedric where are you going?" I asked, trying to walk forcefully the other way and failing miserably. He continued to ignore me, while I proceeded to tug the other way. After a while, I gave up and just decided to let him drag me wherever he wanted until he stopped and then he can suffer the outcome.

Cedric finally stopped in front of the Black Lake, and began to climb the tallest tree. I followed, unsure. He shuffled down the thickest tree branch and beckoned me to sit next to him.

The sight I saw - when I finally got over the fact that I had no idea what he was doing - made me gasp in awe. The sun was setting, casting its glow on the lake which shimmered. Clouds swirled, highlighted by the sun which gave it a magical glow, and I caught a glimpse of something silvery gliding gracefully under the water.

I looked over to see Cedric's hopeful face. "Do you like it here?" he asked. "What do you think?" I replied. "No?" Cedric winced and looked at me slowly. "Are you stupid?" I grinned. "I've been told I'm not.." he replied, confused. I rolled my eyes playfully. "I love it," and as soon as I said those words, Cedric's face lit up as he beamed, which made me blush.

Cedric put his right arm around my shoulders and rested his head on top of mine. I blushed even more if that was possible and then subconsciously I slowly twined my fingers with his, relaxing slightly but not much. We sat there in a comfortable silence for what seemed like minutes but turned out to be hours. It was evening when we decided to be sensible and go back before curfew, even though Cedric had said he was a Prefect and he was allowed after hours; talk about abusing his power.

The next few weeks were uneventful, until there was an announcement that the Tri-Wizard Tournament would be held at Hogwarts this year. Foreign schools arrived at Hogwarts, Beauxbatons in carriages pulled by magnificent horses with wings and Durmstrang rising up majestically from the Black Lake in an enormous ship.

Only those over 17 were allowed to attempt to enter the competition by putting a piece of parchment with their name and school on it. Unfortunately, I was 16. It would have been exciting to enter, though there was a chance of death.

The Beauxbatons entered the Great Hall first, waving their arms to make blue butterflies out of thin air ( if I remember correctly ). Then Durmstrang arrived ( can't be bothered to describe lol ).

People started putting their names in the Goblet, which was an enormous golden cup which would choose the three contenders for the tournament. I hadn't expected Cedric wanted to enter, yet I expected it as well.

"y/n!" Cedric jogged up to me as I was walking down the corridor to the Gryffindor common room, catching up easily and mirroring my footsteps. "Yes?" I arched an eyebrow inquiringly. "What is your opinion on me entering the Tri-Wizard Tournament?" he asked with a grin on his face.

I stopped dead in my tracks and nearly tripped over my own feet, and would have if Cedric hadn't slung an arm around my shoulders to support me. "I'd think that you were absolutely bonkers!" I exclaimed. "But imagine the honour I could bring back for Hogwarts, for Hufflepuff.. for you," he trailed off. I shook my head roughly, pushing his hand off my shoulder. "No," I simply said before walking briskly away.

Didn't he understand how horribly this could go wrong? I didn't want to lose him.

The next day, I watched with mortified eyes as a very determined-looking Cedric had marched up to the Goblet and put the piece of parchment that his name was written on into the cup. He jogged back to his friends where he was enveloped with hugs, people patting his back in congratulations.

Briefly, his stormy grey eyes met mine and I held my stare, not willing to be the one that looked away first. We hadn't spoken since yesterday when he approached me. He took a step forward towards me, and then stopped midway through the action. I watched in a face of neutral.

Cedric seemed to contemplate something in his head, before frowning and opened his mouth to say something before stopping himself. His grey eyes flashed, and then he retreated and begun to walk out with his friends.

I heard wisps of the girls in our year and below whispering to each other about how Cedric and I have most likely broken up, or how I was 'playing hard to get'. There were also ecstatic comments from girls about how Cedric wasn't taken anymore to which I rolled my eyes at.

We certainly hadn't broken up, yet I had simply no idea what was going on between the both of us. My curiosity of it nagged at the back of my mind each day, and it had only gotten worse as days passed by.

On the rare days that we passed each other in the corridors, my stubbornness wouldn't even let my eyes glance at him, no matter how strong the urge.

As soon as our 'argument' had started, I had begged the Head Boy to switch rounds with each other, and after sometime upon seeing how desperate I was, he relented and he was to accompany Cedric in his rounds, whilst I was partnered with Roger Davies.

Throughout the time that I had spent with Roger, I had befriended the sweet Ravenclaw, and he had always found the time to help me with my essays that I never bothered to do until the last minute.

After I had begged Roger with pleading eyes that I knew he couldn't say no to, he would always roll his eyes playfully and admonish jokingly that I was hopeless. We never had any idea of the guilty jealousy that burned in Cedric's eyes every time he saw us together.

One day, I had decided that I have had enough of ignoring Cedric, and even though I did not want to, I thought it would be best if we broke up. On an early Saturday morning, I approached Cedric as he was chatting gaily to his friends, yet there was something in his eyes that seemed extremely different. Something very much like sorrow.

"Cedric, if you would come with me please," I addressed him politely, sounding like an old teacher, and as I began to walk away, he followed uncertainly. I chose an empty classroom, and seated myself as comfortably as I could on top of a desk. He mirrored my movement on the opposite desk.

"We should-," I began before he cut me off. "Don't say what I think you're going to say, y/n. Don't you dare," he pleaded. I hesitated, before clearing my throat and saying it clear as day, "We should break up."
