EXT. WASHINGTON, DC, J. EDGAR HOOVER BUILDING, FBI
HEADQUARTERS, SPECIAL CASES UNIT - DAY

A two-floor building, sided by trees. It occupies an entire

block. Some traffic on the streets around.

Angle on the main entrance, where there is written, above a
circular automatic door: J. Edgar Hoover Building.

INT. FIRST FLOOR - BRIEFING ROOM - DAY

JASON TODD, 40, well-built, with broad shoulders and a
prominent jaw, chief of the FBI's Special Cases Unit, meets
with his staff. A tough, by-the-book boss, he sees his
position at Special Cases Unit as a huge career opportunity
and will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals.

As he speaks, he projects on the wall pictures we cannot see.
Everyone listens with attention.

JASON TODD: That's the fourth prostitute found dead in Anchorage in the last six months. Causa mortis: hemorrhage. Her body was perforated by..."quarrels".

Murmurs of surprise.

JASON TODD (CONT'D):..which means she was killed by a
crossbow.

Angle on MIKE MASTERSON, sitting in the middle. A field
agent, late twenties, slim, with brown hair and blue eyes.
All New England. Ambitious and manipulative.
He smiles.

MIKE MASTERSON: Cool. Like in "Game of Thrones".

General embarrassment.

Angle on PETER BOLSOM. A field agent, in his fifties, with

gray hair and a strong build. Old-school, out of the J. Edgar
Hoover tradition. He believes the FBI must get back the
discipline of its glory days.

He freezes Masterson in his gaze.

PETER BOLSOM: If you were an agent lost in the "Game of Thrones", Masterson, you'd die of starvation.

MIKE MASTERSON:Why?

PETER BOLSOM: Without forensic, you wouldn't reach a fire dragon flying above your head.

Everyone laughs, except Masterson, who looks uncomfortable.

Todd intervenes.

JASON TODD: Bolsom, the assignment is yours. I need my best man on this.

Bolsom smiles, flattered.

Masterson raises his hand.

MIKE MASTERSON: Sir, I volunteer to go.

PETER BOLSOM: I won't have time to babysit you.

MIKE MASTERSON: It's procedure to assign two
agents.

PETER BOLSOM: Two good agents. Not the kind who arrests Wicca teenagers in the town square.

MIKE MASTERSON: They were involved in a satanic cult. All those weird clothes.

PETER BOLSOM:They were role-playing a Harry Potter game.

JASON TODD: Guys, guys. Cut it out. Let's not forget why The White House set up the Unit. To handle the most sensitive cases the FBI has to offer. You all went through the most rigorous selection process to get here.

PETER BOLSOM: (looking at Masterson) Except the ones who have connections in Congress.

Masterson looks embarrassed. Todd too.

JASON TODD: Masterson, you've got the case as well.

Masterson smiles. Bolsom reddens.
