Avi always loved nature and he always had a certain respect for it. If there was garbage on the ground, he'd pick it up. If there was someone mistreating nature, like breaking the trees, he'd stop them. But one part of nature he did not like was wind. He had always been afraid of the wind and yet he didn't know why. No one really did, to be honest. Avi was now walking through the small town campground, the smell of campfire flowing through the air, peace flowing throughout his body. The night was dark, only a few people awake at the time, which made it even more peaceful, the crickets chirping with the moon light shining through the trees above. Avi knew better than to disrespect nature or to take it for granted as he knew that somewhere in the future people would not care for nature as much as they did now, but that was a worry in the back of his mind, as well it should be for yours as this isn't the year 2015, no, It's the year 1927.
As he was strolling, he thought he caught a glimpse of a special light in the distance, a bright orange and red sort of flame which was illuminating all the space around it, seemingly calling out to the bearded man. Intrigued, Avi walked faster towards the flame, wanting to see what it was before it went out in the gentle breeze which moved the trees in a calming manner. It seemed as though the closer he went, the farther the flame went, and Avi didn't even notice that he was running until he had become short of breath. Now realising that he was quite far away from the camp, he turned around to see just how far away he was which only made him worry more when he couldn't see the camp anymore. He whipped his head back around to the flame, it startling him once he saw that it was now right in front of him, not the many metres away like it was before.
With the flame's light now glowing in his eyes, mesmerising him, luring him to touch it. But this is fire we're talking about and Avi isn't dumb. Hesitantly, he reached his hand out to hover above the flame, which wasn't giving off any heat from what he could tell. Avi shook his head to himself, confused with how he could let himself get all amazed about a flame when it wasn't even real. Fire has heat, this flame did not. Still annoyed with himself, Avi turned back around to go back to the campground, which he would have to guess the location of, but was immediately stopped when he felt an intense heat burning through his shoulder.
"What the-" Avi said before shouting out in pain as the flame attached itself to him, causing him to fall on the ground to try to avoid the pain which was seeming to be eternal at the moment.
Finally, the flame detached itself and resumed its place in the air, suspended like magic, Avi crawling backwards in fear, trying to get away from the flame which had burnt him so badly. The flame, noticing how Avi was getting away, took the opportunity to fly down Avi's mouth, which was open in fear, burning his insides until he felt at one with the flame, the pain now a dull sting until it was nothing.
-
Avi now sat in his backyard, his campfire going to remind him of that fateful time all those years ago, when people cared about nature and when he was a normal person.
