There was definitely times where Louis wished he wasn't given such benevolent and compassionate traits. Especially feeling heartbreak everytime someone lost a life.

The small angel sat quietly by himself, legs tucked underneath him as he pet a large dog by the side of the road, who was bleeding out quickly.

His eyes were a dull gray when he was sad, and his wings slouched, less bright, and his halo barely glowing.

Louis gently pet the dog who was crying, whimpering in pain.

He couldn't help the dog, but he knew he could lessen the pain. He set his hand on the dogs chest, hand glowing. He watched the dogs eyes slowly shut and drift to sleep, making his last few minutes painless, and peaceful.

Behind him stood a Demon, Harry to be exact. He was so close to grabbing the boy, and taking him down to Hell, but he couldn't do it. He could sense the sadness he was feeling, and the pain.

Why could he feel this Angels pain?

So instead, Harry found himself slowly walking over, and sitting down on the side of the road. Louis looked up, but due to his state, he couldn't find himself to be panicked, nor could he leave this poor soul to pass alone.

"Animals don't go to Heaven you know" Harry spoke up, voice deep and raspy.

Louis frowned, looking back down at the sleeping dog. "Yeah, I'm aware" he murmured. "Where do you think they go?" he asked softly.

Harry was unsure how to answer. "Nowhere. They just die" he crossed his arms over his chest.

Louis deflated at his words, "I can't help but feel for him. I feel sadness for all who die" he pet the dogs head sadly. Judging by the gray fur by his mouth and eyes, he could tell he lived a long life. But seeing how skinny his belly was, his ribs showing, and how long his nails were, he could see the dog hadn't had it easy.

"Right- but it isn't your issue?" the Demon mumbled, raising an eyebrow.

"You don't think it's sad? That he has no soul after he passes away? He will be nothing, but a homeless dog, who had a hard life. No one will mourn him, how can you not find that desolate?" Louis asked him, instead of replying to his rude statement.

Harry was quiet after Louis spoke, eyes looking downward after catching sight of the Angel's eyes blurring with tears.

Harry then set a hand on the dogs side, near Louis'.

Louis looked up, his sad gray eyes, meeting Harry's piercing red ones.

They sat in silence, Louis' breath hitching when he felt the animals chest stop moving.

——

Louis was sat at his desk, staring at the wood with a lost look, thinking about his encounter with the Demon who still hadn't mentioned his name.

He was so intrigued when he knew he shouldn't be. The Demon seemed to speak very few words.

Their first encounter, he tried to take him. The second, he mourned the lost life with Louis.

The boy was so confused, but he knew he wanted to learn more, and find out more.

His quiet thinking was interupted when there was a knock on his door, and he looked up, shaking his head to wake himself up a bit more.

"Come in" Louis' soft voice spoke up, smiling when he saw Liam open the door and come in with Luke and Michael. "Hello" he greeted them, standing up and smiling.

The men all muttered hello's, Liam speaking up afterwards, "You were on Earth alone today Louis. After I specifically requested you not to be" Liam spoke with a stern voice.

Louis frowned, he knew this was coming. "There was a life being lost, all by himself. He was lonely, there was nobody to mourn him" he murmured softly. At this, the three soldiers all became quiet, as they knew Louis was sensitive when it came to such things.

"You could have asked me to come, or Celeste, or Liam or Michael" Luke spoke up, walking over towards Louis to engulf him in a hug.

The Angel nuzzled into his chest, eyes shutting. "I know" he murmured softly.

"Did you encounter anyone while you were down there?" Liam asked, arms crossed.

Louis was torn, he couldn't lie to Liam, but he couldn't tell him about his encounter! He'd never be allowed to go anywhere afterwards.

He kept his lie simple, shaking his head no.

Liam seemed to physically relax at this, and he nodded. "Alright then. Just tell one of us next time, okay?" Michael hummed softly.

Louis nodded, "I will" he murmured.

The Angel felt guilty as he spoke, he knew it was another lie.
