Schuyler

Sky didn't like Liam. There. It had to be said. When the young man came back with their food he stopped yet again to speak to Jonas serving to make Schuyler feel left out at his own date. At first Sky thought that maybe he was just being irrational but the way Liam looked at Jonas left Sky wondering. Frowning Sky passively listened as Liam and Jonas talked. At least Jonas looked like he really wanted to end the conversation.

"You should tell me when you're coming here next, I can maybe get you a discount," Liam said, backpedaling away from the table.

"I'll try." Jonas gave a weak smile, turning back to quickly chug his drink, averting his gaze as his face flushed.

"He seems nice," Sky said, grabbing his plate to take a look at his food. He wasn't used to eating out, he liked to make his own food so he simply ordered whatever sounded good. And what sounded good just so happened to be a nice salad.

Blinking Jonas shook his head, "Oh I'm sorry about that, I'm probably making you feel like a third wheel."

"No it's fine. This whole thing has just been so nice."

Normally Sky wouldn't tell so much about himself during a date but Jonas was just so easy to talk to, a lot less judgmental than he let on. It had to be that resting bitch face of his. Honestly it was scary how deeply he used to scowl at Sky whenever they bumped into each other in the mornings. Snorting Sky had to stop himself from choking on a piece of lettuce.

"What's so funny?" Jonas asked, raising a brow at him.

"Nothing... So you have two dads, what's that like? You get double the dad jokes I bet."

"Not really. My dad David can't tell a joke to save his life but that doesn't mean he won't try. And Nick dotes on me a lot but he means well. They took me in during a time of my life where things were far from stable." Sighing Jonas shrugged. "They were there for me when my own family wasn't."

"But now you're in a loving home with people who care about you," Sky said, giving a reassuring smile. "That has to count for something."

"Yeah, it beats getting moved from house to house and now I'm at the point where I'm considering moving out on my own though be honest I don't think Nick will let me."

"They'll grow to understand eventually." But what did Sky know, he didn't get to choose. And all because in a moment of guilt and a need for clarity he decided it would be best to come out to his family about everything. All the lies he was telling them. Shaking it off Sky said, "You know maybe we could go some place else after this."

That sounded too forward. He just wanted to maybe suggest they watch a movie after at his place. Okay maybe he shouldn't have even considered that. He didn't want things to go down like that just yet. He and Jonas had just met really and he didn't wanna open up in that way, at least not so soon. Wow get a grip Sky!

Face flushed Jonas blinked. "Huh?"

"I just mean... maybe we could just hang out at mine for a little after this." Now that he was saying it and he could hear himself saying it Sky was hoping Jonas would say no. Trust and believe that he wanted to get the man alone but he didn't wanna rush. He'd learned the hard way that making that move so soon was bound to cause misunderstandings.

"Sure, that would be nice." Jonas blushed, taking a bite of his food.

"Cool. I figured we could watch a movie together and I'd walk you home or whatever."

***

This was awkward. Sky was awkward. Jonas looked so uncomfortably confused. The two of them were sitting so far apart in the back of the cab you'd think they thought the other was contagious. When Sky looked over he saw Jonas putting on his seatbelt with shaky hands and a flushed face. Frowning Sky took a breath and scooted towards the middle, cautiously reaching over to rest his hand on top of Jonas'.

Jonas winced at first before exhaling and relaxing against Sky's touch. They were silent for most of the ride, Sky's nerves were all over the place and he was happy to pay the cabbie and exit the car quickly.

"So...?" Jonas said, leaning against the wall near the door as Sky unlocked it, licking his lips and running his fingers through his hair. "What now?"

Sinking his teeth into his bottom lip Sky watched as Jonas' eyes fluttered closed, listening to his own breathing before leaning forward and letting it mingle with Jonas' and planting a kiss on his waiting lips. It was sweet. There were no hungry desperate hands grabbing at his hips or hands groping his ass but a soft palm at his cheek, fingers playing with his short hair as they tilted their heads to deepen the kiss. It was a snow globe worthy moment that left Sky feeling dizzy with the rush of blood to his cheeks.

Jonas was the one who pulled away first, a goofy smile tugging at his lips that he failed to hide. Taking his hand from Sky's hair Jonas patted his shoulder with a hint of hesitation. "Are we gonna... go inside or..."

"Oh, shit," Sky mumbled, quickly yanking the key back out of the door before opening it. "You first."

Eyes taking in everything Jonas stepped into the apartment, Sky on his heels, taking his coat from around his shoulders to drape it over the back of the couch. Sky shut the door behind him, a little hesitant to turn around and face the man behind him. A hand tapped his shoulder bringing him back to the moment.

"This is cute," Jonas said, leaving his side to fiddle with the tassels of one the couch pillows. "I mean it's small but looks busy."

Raising a brow Sky hung his keys up before folding his coat up and laying it across the top of a bookshelf. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"My family's a bit minimalist. But this whole place just looks so warm and homey even though you're probably the only one that lives here. You are right? Your roommates not gonna jump out and sneak attack us?" Jonas looked up, craning his neck to peek around into the hallway.

"No. This is a one bedroom. Why'd you ask that?" Sky studied how many expressions crossed Jonas' face before the young man snorted.

"No reason. I just..."

"Wanted to know if we were here alone?"

Sky had yet to move away from the door so when Jonas made his way back to him he instinctively reached for his waist to press him against the wall, wincing when he heard the man's head bang against it. Jonas hissed before laughing it off and giving Sky an opened mouth kiss. Grabbing hold of his wrists Sky pinned his hands above his head, causing Jonas to giggle a little as he kissed at his neck. Sky found his laugh infectious and joined him, humming against his skin as he held his hands up.

"Shit!" Sky muttered as the little key rack fell off of one of it's nails as their hands knocked it out of place. Jonas pinned it in place with the back of his hand causing it to fall off it's last nail.

"Ow," he said, turning his head a little for Sky to grab it and toss it onto the low bookshelf next to them.

When Sky turned back to Jonas he returned his attention back to the man's pale neck, reaching with one hand to grip his ass while the other played with the button of his jeans. Then he felt the man's hands at his chest and quickly pulled back.

"Is something wrong?" he asked, worry already starting to eat away at him.

"Nothing I just... I have literally no idea what I'm doing," Jonas chuckled, cocking his head to the side at him. "I've never really done anything like this."

"Like this? What do you mean, you've never...?" Sky gave him a look.

"I mean I'm not a v- I mean we don't really know each other and I'm not... we're not ready for it. I can feel it in the way you were kissing me, it was like you weren't really... there." Sighing Jonas shook his head. "You've been hurt and I feel like if we go any further then we'd be taking advantage of each other."

Confused Sky stepped back to give the man some space.

"I'm probably not making any sense and I'm sorry if all that came out wrong I just mean... God Sky you're probably the hottest guy I've been with in a while and you... you needed someone to talk to and I was there and I wanna be there but we're not ready for anything like that. God why did you even invite me?"

"I... I honestly don't wanna be alone." Sky mumbled, shifting on his feet. "I-I tried to kill myself that night."

A/N: I love how honest they've gotten to be with each other. It makes up for how fast I feel like this is moving though.
