INT. COMIC BOOK SHOP – DAY

CLAIRE LE MAYES stands behind the counter. She’s a quietly attractive woman in her mid to late-twenties. She wears glasses and is dressed down. She's doing inventory on some trading cards.

IAN (O.S)

Claire! Claire, get over here!

Claire SIGHS, but pulls herself away from doing inventory. She walks over to where her boss stands by the shelves.

CLAIRE LE MAYES

What's wrong?

IAN, a large, greasy man in his late thirties/early forties, gestures to the shelves at the front of the store.

IAN

I thought I told you to put Lady Leopard comics here. What the hell is Green Arrow doing up on my front shelves?

CLAIRE LE MAYES

It's the new issue. A lot of kids are looking forward to it.

IAN

I'm trying to bring people into my shop. Does a man in a skin-tight costume bring people into my shop?

He lifts a comic book of a woman in a skin-tight, barely there, leopard print costume.

IAN (CONT’D)

No. Lady Leopard brings people into my shop. Now go to the back and bring my Lady Leopard out here, where she belongs.

Claire walks towards the back of the shop.

CLAIRE LE MAYES

(to herself)

At least I know the difference between Green Lantern and Green Arrow. Boo-yah.

IAN

What's that?

Claire turns, and smiles.

CLAIRE LE MAYES

I said that Lady Leopard reminds me of Mia Farrow.

Ian looks confused, but nods to himself.

IAN

Yeah. Yeah, I thought so too.

CLAIRE LE MAYES

(to herself)

And I know who Mia Farrow is.

INT. - COMIC BOOK SHOP – BACK ROOM - DAY

Claire grabs a stack of Lady Leopard comic books and hauls them towards the front.

INT. - COMIC BOOK SHOP – DAY

JESSE, an overweight man in his mid to late twenties, enters the shop. He sees Claire hauling the Lady Leopard books.

JESSE

Excuse me, nice lady. I need some help with the trading cards. I'm looking for some rares and uncommons.

Claire DROPS the Lady Leopard books on the counter.

CLAIRE LE MAYES

Thanks, Jesse.

They pretend to look over a binder of trading cards while they chat.

JESSE

No problem. What else are friends for?

He picks up a plastic teddy bear figurine off of the cash register and starts posing it. It’s painted in a superhero costume. He glances back at Ian, who is pulling Green Lantern off the shelf.
