Jennifer.
"Jen! You're taking me out to dinner? Isn't the guy supposed to do that?" He asked, looking amused.
"Well think of it as an early graduation present! And if you must know, I'm not like most girls," I said, sticking my tongue out at him.
"Yeah I figured that out a long time ago," he said, leaning in to kiss me. I smiled as our lips met.
"So when should I pick you up?" He asked, breaking away suddenly.
"Shouldn't I be picking you up?" I asked, confused. Mom bought me a Toyota a month back and I'd been practicing every day.
"Yeah but since you suck at driving..." he trailed off.
"Shush you devil! I'm getting better!" I protested, laughing.
"Devil? Who me? I'm an angel! Honest! The horns are just there to keep the halo up straight."
"Jason!" I exclaimed, my eyes filled with amusement.
"Okay okay, I'm sorry!" He chuckled. "You can pick me up at seven."
I bit my lip and looked at him with that 'I want another kiss' look.
It didn't take him even a second to comprehend. He just scooped me into his arms and kissed me intensely for a good five minutes. I could literally feel current charging through my spine as his lips explored my mouth. I ran my fingers through his hair, in a tangle of heat and passion.
After what seemed like an eternity, we pulled away.
"Wow Jason. You really know what a girl wants," I teased.
"Don't I?" He asked, raising his eyebrow cockily.
And then we burst out laughing.
Jason.
We entered Vitello's and were led to a table for two. The place was tastefully decorated, with a pleasant ambiance. A band was playing some music on stage in the center of the dining area.
We took our place and Jennifer ordered a Fettuccine Alfredo as I scanned the menu.
After giving it some thought, I placed my order of Spinach Ricotta Ravioli in mushroom sauce.
Suddenly, Jennifer rose from her seat.
To my surprise, she took a deep breath and started walking away from our table.
"Jenny, where –"
She turned abruptly and said, "Stay put."
My brow furrowed as she made her way towards the stage.
"This song is called I could not ask for more by Sara Evans and I'd like to dedicate it to my boyfriend, Jason," She said into the microphone. My eyebrows shot up. Then, looking right at me, she added, "I hope these lyrics are able tell you exactly how I feel when I'm with you."
Lying here with you
Listening to the rain
Smiling just to see the smile upon your face
These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments I'll remember all my lifeI found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more
Looking in your eyes
Seeing all I need
Everything you are is everything to meI could not ask for more than this time together
I could not ask for more than this time with you
Every prayer has been answered
Every dream I have's come true
And right here in this moment is right where I'm meant to be
Here with you here with me...She played the last note and said, "I love you Jason."
My heart pounded in my ears I rose from my seat and walked right up to her on stage.
And then, in front of everyone, I kissed her senseless.
