Chapter 1: In which you start to know me.

Before

Luna Lovegood, or Luna Longbottom, Clara was told, was her mother, and seamed to have died a few seconds after the birth of her lovely child; Clara Grace Longbottom.

Poor Luna's husband, Neville Longbottom, had disappeared and no one had ever heard from him, so he was also assumed dead. So that poor Clara was left on her own in an orphanage. That was until a very nice muggle couple had taken her in graciously and treated her as their own.

Now

Now at 10 years of age, and attending a local elementary school, Clara has long blond hair that falls to her ribs, a round face with large brown eyes.

Clara's POV

I sat down on a bench began to read a book from the library when a loud obnoxious voice rang out, "Get up stupid little teachers pet! We're going sit here now!"

This voice belonged to one of the biggest, stupidest, and meanest of the ten / eleven year old gang that terrorized all of the playground.

I did not want to get up. But, as I am rather short for my age and they would probably squash me to a pulp by just sitting on me, I did not voice this. I merely stared at him unblinkingly and imagined one of the empty swings crashing into him.

Suddenly one of the non-moving swing picked up so much speed that it crashed into him with a loud 'CHINK' and he landed on the ground with a tremendous 'THUD'.

With a small smile I stood up and and made a little courtesy-ish movement and walked away, book in hand.

All of the teachers thought I was quite extraordinary because at 10 years of of age I was reading 7,000,000 page novels and got strait A's in all of my classes, but honestly I think everyone else is rather stupid, well the gang is. One of the teachers had very much doubted that I had actually read theses novels so she had decided that she would question me. She asked very precise questions and was very surprised when she got correct answers. I then became what the other students called, as you can see earlier, the 'teachers pet.'

I did not have even one human friend. I love animals and thought they were so much more understanding and nicer than people at my school. Another friend I have is my books. It may sound creepy and pretty depressing, but I found that they were much like a friend that i could carry around and be told a wonderful story by just opening it.

I plopped down behind a tree facing the small woods and opened her book to page 394 where I had last left my bookmark.

I had only read two and a half pages when a rustle in a bush rear by made me look up. A small cottontail bunny bounded out and froze when it saw me. "It's alright I'm not going to hurt you." I cooed softly. I had seen this rabbit several times and it relaxed a bit of still kept its ears pricked. I slowly crept to sitting cross legged in front of it over the course of about five minutes. The hare kept still and I slowly stretched out my hand to stroke it. Once I had touched it it seamed to realize I wasn't going to harm it so it relaxed completely.

I had it in my arms and snuggled up to my chest and was scratching behind its ears when a male voice rang out,"Do you know how you do that?"

I jumped in fright and so did the cottontail. I was nearly as frightened as the bunny; it's nose was twitching very fast, it's body was stiff and his ears pricked. I stroked it consolingly and slowly turn to face the speaker.

A boy of 8 (like me,) with jet black hair, a light sprinkle of freckles over his nose, and ears that stuck out somewhat, was leaning against a tree staring at me. I only knew him by sight, we were usually partnered together, being both left out.

"Really I've been watching you, ( 'that's slightly creepy', I thought) the animals trust you, the swing wasn't moving until that guy was mean to you, Brad Tompkins took your book and suddenly it burnt his hand, do you know? About the other world?" He asked.

I haven't the slightest idea what he's talking about 'the other world,' but what's the harm in hearing him out? I love stories.

"What other world?" I asked.

"The wizarding world! I mean it's clear that you're a witch!"

Well that's not very nice. Guess I was wrong about hearing him out, that damaged me mentally. I'm used to it, but it usually comes from the gang, I though he didn't mind me, even if he didn't want to be friends. I gave him a sour look, turned around and continued to stoke the hare.

The boy looked confused. How did that offend her? Maybe she didn't like magic or... Then the conclusion dawned on him.

"Wait no! No not like that! A magic witch! There's nothing wrong with it, young witches and wizards will get a acceptance owl from Hogwarts when they're 11!" He explained in nearly a shout.

I turned around and doubtfully asked,"What's your name?"

He looked very relieved and answered,"Wolf Finnigan."

"I'm Clara Longbottom."

They shook hands and Clara asked,"What do you mean 'other world'?

"The wizarding world! Of magic witches and wizardry." Explained Wolf.

"Um, you're joking right?"

"No this is real!"

"Ok sure it is." I said skeptically.

How stupid do I look?

Maybe he's not pranking you, said a teeny voice in my head.

It's just a prank, and a pretty bad one, said another voice loudly.

Or is it? Said the small voice in the back of my head.

Yes it is, said the other voice very firmly.

My mental war was interrupted by the ringing of the bell telling me it was time for math. I set off and reached my seat just as the teacher said,"Alright today we're starting. . . ." But my mind was not on math. Was Wolf just pulling a prank on me to make me look stupid or was it all true. . . . It made sense. . .

Later that day

"How was school dear?" Asked my adoptive mother.

"Great mom, I met someone new too." I answered with a smile. Technically that's not a lie, I did meet Wolf today even if he was pranking me.

"That's wonderful dear," mom said with a smile which I returned.

I did not tell ever her of the other kids bullying me or really anything negative because she has done so much for me, and it would sound so ungrateful, and not to mention babyish.

I went upstairs and started the shower. The steam soothed me and helped me think clearly.

Was Wolf just messing with me? It all fit. . . But that's impossible right? Ok, made up my mind. I'm going to ignore Wolf because he's tricking me. Obviously. I can't believe I actually considered it!

After that I put on my pjs and went to bed.
