Chapter 16

Zia Knight POV

"Hello?" I was watching the boys who were happily sharing the waffle with their smile on their face. They were laughing at each other's messy faces especially with the chocolate syrup that is now covering most of their mouth and chin area. 

"Hey! is this Zia? It's Angelo here, Derek's uncle."

'Oh hey there. sup?"

"Not much just on my way to the restaurant. Thanks for taking care of Derek my brother and I was worried since we found out that the security in my brother's office were not bringing Derek up to his office. Oh my brother is Derek's god-father, Derek's legal guardian." 

"Ahh... I see. Okay, well to be honest I am a bit upset knowing that you guys manage to lose him. You guys are lucky that it was Lucas and I who found him but if that wasn't the case yeah I will stop let you imagine that yourself! Well, I will bring Derek to the restaurant as soon we're done here. See you in 20-minutes." I hanged up abruptly feeling upset with how reckless they are with Derek. I know it was Derek who saw us and not us founding him but they don't need to know. They need to understand the severity of the situation. 

The boys finished their waffle and I began to clean them up carefully with wet-wipes and alcohol free hand-sanitizer. As soon we finished cleaning up I took a hold of each of their hand and head towards the car. It's almost 8 now so I quickly buckle them in and myself before I start my drive to my restaurant.

After 10-minutes we arrived to the restaurant and I park my car to the reserve parking spot. I took the boys out and carry them on my hips since they begin to fall asleep. Luckily one of the staffs open the door for me and I walked straight towards Avery's office. Since my hands are full carrying the boys I use my feet to tap lightly on the door afraid to wake the two boys up.

Avery opened her office door to see me carrying the two boys. She quickly took Lucas off me and carry him into her office and lay him down on his couch. I still have Derek on my arms but this time I use my other hand to rub his head to help him fall back to sleep since my movement from having Lucas taken off my arm woke him up a bit.

I was too focus on watching Derek going back to sleep as I make my to the long couch. I saw on the couch carefully and place on Derek on my laps who now has his face in the crook of my neck slightly snoring. 

"Wow" that startled me a bit and caused me to jump slightly on my seat. Thankfully Derek stay asleep despite the small movement I made. I look around to find the source of the voice and found Derek's uncle, Angelo, with his eyes bulged open and jaw agape. I put a scowl on my face to show how displease I was for startling me and the whole recklessness with losing Derek today. 

"Hey, I'm Angelo..." I interrupted him abruptly with my deadliest tone.

"Shut it" I still glare at him. He close his mouth straight away and gulped slowly. He's scared, good. I can be intimidating if I want to, it's the Knight trademark I guess.

Angelo was looking everywhere but me, he stopped at Avery and gave her a look as if asking for help. Avery chuckled silently before she nod her head towards me. I know she's telling him to take Derek from my arms but I don't know how he will ever accomplish them when Derek has a strong grip on my leather jacket and hair. 

Angelo began to approach me slowly as if I was a wild animal. Let's have a little bit of fun shall we?

I squint my eyes at him as if daring him to take another step closer. He stopped from taking another step and blink his eyes real quickly before he made a quiet whining sound as he turned his head to Avery. Avery saw a small tug to my lips and my eyes twinkling with amusement. She's now chuckling lowly and took a hold of Angelo's hand to drag him towards me.

Avery pushed him towards me when they're now standing in front of me. He has his hand ready to pick up Derek off me but he was moving too slowly to my liking. I roll my eyes and look at Avery giving her a 'what-the-fuck' look. She was holding her laughter while she watch her own boyfriend acting like this the the entire time. 

Angelo finally has his hands under Derek's arms to pick me up but Derek's grip tighten even more. Angelo start to pull him gently but Derek begin to whine and push his face even deeper to the crook of neck. Angelo tried again to pull Derek a bit harder this time but this cause Derek to pull my hair hard too. Angelo seems to not see it but as soon Avery realised my pain she stopped Angelo and point her finger at me. Angelo stopped his attempt and Derek came back to my arms with his arms around my neck now. 

I sigh knowing I have no choice but to help him out. "I'll just come with you to your car". Angelo nodded his head and quickly peck on Avery's lips. I smirked at her blushing state and she stick her tongue out. I chuckled before I stood up and make my way out to follow Angelo to his car.

Angelo open the door to his car back door where Derek's booster is at. I tried to unwrap Derek's arms from around my neck but instead my wrapped his arms even tighter than before. I have no choice but to wake him up a bit.

"Derek, my teddy bear I need you to let go of my neck my love" I whisper to him softly as i use my thumb to rub his forehead gently. Derek began to unwrap his arm and lift his head to look at me but his sleepiness took over him with his head slowly falling to my chest. His hand is now on his sides which let me to place him on his booster seat. I was about to finish buckling him up when one of his hand grab a hold of my leather jacket. 

I quickly finish up with buckling him up and carefully take off my jacket and cover Derek's small body with it. Derek seems content and please with my jacket covering him, that alone put a soft smile on my face. I kiss Derek's head softly before I move away from the car to let Angelo close the door softly.

"Wow, you're really good with taking care of him" I know he's  complimenting me but I'm just going to give him a silent treatment with my blank face on. He saw me staying silent and he let out a sigh before he continue.

"Yeah okay I deserve that but to be honest it was mostly my bro's carelessness for not making sure his security got to Derek on time. But yeah, still partially my fault you're right". I remain silent but adding with a raging glare directed at him. In my opinion it's both of their fault because they can't even be bother to take 30-minutes off their work for Derek. 

"Alright... ummm.. anyway once again Thanks! I ... yeah.. bye. See you around." he quickly got into his driver sit and began to drive away. 

I quickly got my phone out and text Avery to let her know that I'm going back home. I started to get into my car and drive my way back to my condo. I got my grocery into my condo in one go and put them away neatly. 

The clock reads 9.10 so I went back to my office to spend two hours in my office. I did as much as I can including replying to emails especially from my two newly hired catering PAs before I started signing more paperworks. I realised how much paperwork I need to sign now that I began to invest into Knight's business and recent projects. Now that the cruising business is going through I will need to start attending their business meeting too. I hope misisng out a few of these meetings will be okay with Zach and Dad. I mean I have too much in my hand already and I'm sure they don't want me to faint again. Yup, I decided to just use that excuse whenever I can't make it.

Once my two hours is up I went to my room and do my night routine. I turn on my alarm to 7 a.m before I finally lay myself down on my soft bed. Within 5-minutes my eyes began to flutter close and I let sleep took over me.
