Chapter 46

Zia Knight POV

I have just received a text message from Ashton and my heart warmed up to how raw and genuine his words are. 

We are both new to this. New to being in a relationship, new to having a significant other, new to being in love. We're going so fast, too fast maybe but the hearts knows what it wants, isn't it?

I too feel the same, I truly want to call him and be with him. Spend more time him, cuddle with him, and get intimate with him again.

But, I have to put that aside.. put 'us' aside until I know Derek is safe. Completely safe, he's matter to me. Like I said, he is just like a son to me already.

'A bond is build not only by blood' is what our family is about. It is what the Lucianos and Rose has taught my family and I about. 

Many would say, it's crazy how you are attached so soon towards this boy. But can you blame me? if a female can instantly be attracted to someone, be it male or female, can you blame them? NO. It just happens. 

If a mother or a mother figure wants to protect a child from harm or danger, can you stop them? No. It's a natural instinct, at least for me it is.

So yes, It is what it is and, I swore to myself and Rose to always protect Derek and put him first no matter what. 

FLASHBACK TO THE PHONE CALL

"Lots? What have I missed out this time? I could have sworn 'I'll be the first to know if anything new or DRASTIC is going on with you. I'm your twins, twins-made-in-heaven" she whined with a slight frustration seeping in her voice.

I sighed loudly and just fall back to my bed to get comfortable before I spill it all to her.

"Where do I start, Rose" and she cut me off with her smart comeback. "From the start obviously" I snorted at that.

"Well, let me just simplify it for you otherwise it will take weeks and don't stop or ask me question until I'm done." I received a 'uhmm' as a sign of agreement and for me to continue.

"So, I moved to NY to open a family restaurant and finally be with the mom, dad and Zach. My restaurant manager named Avery and her adorable four-year old son named Lucas became my close friend..best friend... of course, you're still the VERY BEST FRIEND..." I quickly said so she doesn't cut me. I heard a quiet 'I better be' from the other side which made chuckled at how different she is with me to others. 

We've always seen each other more like twins than Zach and I, hence why we used 'twins-made-in-heaven. It doesn't make sense but we take it as God wants us to be the twins in heaven while Zach and I being twins on Earth. Obviously, heavens prevails so it's a stronger set of twins than Zach and I.. anyway confusing but it makes sense in our head so let's leave it at that. 

"Continue on... Lucas made a friend name Derek. He is the most adorable, cutest and smartest little boy. I grew attached to him and now, I see him like a son. Foster son, adopted son, whatever you want to call it but we see each other as mother and son. Him calling me Mama Zi and I call him 'my boy, little Derek or teddy bear'. It hasn't been that long but I got to finally meet his godfather who adopted him. Cutting the story short... anyways... he and I are in a relationship but recently we found out Derek's birth name and it was Zaden Romano. The son of Damon Romano, the guy who helped rescuing you when you were... kidnapped." I stopped and let it all sink in to her. 

It must be a lot to take in, because she always hated her kidnapping event. All of us does, especially the Lucianos it was one of their bodyguards - a traitor - who kidnapped her. Since then trust issue always presence and they became more closed off than ever.
