August 24th was Katriana's birthday. Calum always threw her a surprise party every year, while Kate supervised. It was always balloons, streamers, and cake. He always knew what she liked and made each celebration the theme of it. That year's theme was 5 Seconds of Summer, considering how much of a fan she was.

She stood at her locker before heading to the front of the school, walking home right after. As she started walking out of the building, Luke popped up next to her, smiling. She laughed lightly and he put his arm around her shoulder. She didn't mind, she just wasn't used to the attention and affection.

"So," Luke started as they kept walking to her house. "How's your day been so far?"

Katri gave him a shrug. "Same as usual, I guess." She slipped on her hood and Luke sighed. "You know you don't need to hide yourself, Katri." He told her. She mumbled a few words and Luke stopped in front of her. She bumped into his chest, not paying attention to where she was walking.

"Look at me." He asked softly. She looked up at him, and gave him a faint smile. "You're beautiful and you don't need to impress anyone. I love you and you need to see what I see, because damn." He smiled, "It's breathtaking." She giggled and wrapped her arms around his waist. Luke wrapped his arms around her neck and rested his chin on her head.

"I love you, too." She mumbled in Luke's chest, and she felt Luke's heartbeat increase. She laughed and started walking again. He stood by her side, and she walked the rest of the way home. With no hood covering her up.

"How can you not like Green Day?! Luke, that's like not liking puppies."

"I love puppies!"

"Then you should like Gr-"

"Surprise!" Katri jumped, frightened by the sudden surprise and then smiled, realizing what'd happened.

"Happy 13th Birthday, Katri!" Everyone in the room shouted. Calum placed a party hat atop of Katriana's head and did the same to look. Katri glanced at Luke to see if he knew this was planned and when she did, he was looking away, whistling innocently. She smacked his arm and he rubbed it, feigning hurt. "Idiot." She said and tried hiding her smile.

"What'd I do?!" Luke cried, laughing slightly.

"You hate Green Day, so that's why you're an idiot." She replied. Michael popped up in between them and put his arms around their shoulders. "I heard 'Green Day' and 'Idiot' used in the same sentence so here I am." He told them and Katri laughed, Luke shook his head.

"Well, Lukey here hates Green Day." Katri told Michael, sticking out her lower lip and pouting. Luke opened his mouth to say something, but was cut off by Michael. "LUCAS HEMMINGS GET YOU ASS OVER HERE NOW." Michael shouted, no one noticing his sudden out burst. Luke groaned and rolled his eyes.

"Are you going to lecture me again?" He complained. Michael grabbed his wrist and dragged him out back. "I'm teaching you a lesson in good music, Lucas."

"That's not even my name!" Luke cried. Katri giggled and sighed. She was left alone, once again. Everyone else was enjoying her party, so she headed upstairs, to have her own enjoyment by herself. Which was enjoying her computer alone.

As she walked up the steps to her room, she shut the door behind her and hopped on her bed, grabbing her laptop from the table beside her bed. Scrolling through Tumblr and Twitter, she saw a few new things popping up on her Twitter.

Katri covered her mouth in excitement, before reading the tweets that followed. She uncovered her mouth as soon as she realized they were talking about getting a sandwich from her kitchen. She groaned and rested her head on her pillow. A knock came from her door after a moment of silence passed.

"Come in.." She told the person outside of the door. As soon as they stepped in, she rested her weight on her elbows to see them.

"Hi, Cal." Katri greeted. Calum stood by her door awkwardly, shutting it. "Hey."

"What brings you to my personal habitat?" She asked him, causing him to crack a smile.

"I was coming up here to check on you. You left the party and I saw you walk up the stairs." He replied.

"You sound like a pedophile saying that." She giggled, as he sat down at the edge of her bed.

Calum rolled his eyes. "Who cares?" Katri raised her hand.

"Katri, I have a question for you."

"I have an answer."

"Are you okay?" He asked seriously. Katri frowned, looking down.

"I'm fine." She whispered. Calum shook his head.

"No you're not. You're never this solitary." He argued.

"How would you know how I feel, Calum?" She looked back up at him, tears running down her cheeks. "You don't control me, you can't tell me what to feel." She stood up from her bed and stood in front of Calum. "I can make whatever choices I want because I. Am. Me. No one can change that," She choked. "Not even you."

Calum looked at her with hurt eyes. "Where's the Katri I know and love? She cared about herself and keeping everyone happy. Didn't care about what people thought about her, and was perfect."

"Nobody's perfect."

"I thought you were, in a good way." Calum protested. "The perfect Katriana is gone. I miss her."

"I miss you."

Katri sighed shakily. "Well, I hate to break it to you, Hood, but she's gone. And if you can't accept that, then you don't have to accept me. I won't be a burden in your life anymore."

"Katri, I-"

"You meant everything, Calum. I've changed, and you've proven to me how much I need to rely on you anymore. Now, please leave my room. I won't be needing your prescence anytime soon." Calum stood up from her bed and stepped out of her room. She slammed the door, and sunk to the ground against it.

Calum sighed, wiping his face. "What have I done?"
