Unlike my father's office, Mr Carter's was spacious and bright with large windows on both sides of the room. Nice wallpapers, depicting Angels, were decorating the walls, giving a nice feeling to the room. The furniture was red, made from leather and the desk was wooden with a glass cover. Behind it was Mr Jonas Carter, serious as always.

He eyed me for a moment and then his mouth curved into a smile. I gave back a small smile as he gestured me to sit. Mr Carter was known as a grumpy, forty-year-old, man that hasn't been smiling since the nineties, that is when my father kind of stole his place as the Institutes Leader, but he doesn't mind, he's a good person. For me, he was better known as Jonas, my father's best friend and my best friend's father. He used to come to my house a lot before the incident.

''Amelia, It's hard to believe that you did something wrong to be sent here, you are not used to that. Please, tell me what is wrong?'' he asked, taking a more serious look.

''No, I just wanted to ask you for permission to head back to my quarters. I don't feel very well...'' I said in my most convincing tone. In fact, I was feeling awesome. It was the first time in my life that I was gonna break a rule. My adrenaline levels were extremely high.

''Of course, take your time. I will inform your teachers for you,'' he said and wrote something on his computer.

''Thank you Mr Carter'' I replied as I got up from my chair.

I was ready to open the door when I saw a black backpack laying on the floor. At first, I didn't think much of it but then I saw a small injection on the floor next to it. It was almost empty except some black marks here and there. What was that?

'' Mr Carter? What is that?'' I managed to ask.

''Oh, nothing. Um, one of our Seekers found it along with some other Demonic stuff in a Demon's house. Nothing to worry about...'' he said nervously. I eyed the bag one more time before exiting the office. I didn't give a second glance at the secretary with the fake smile and headed to my room.

I took off my school clothes and put on black jeans, a white, a T-shirt and my favourite plaid shirt. Of course along with my combat boots. I looked in the mirror and grimaced. I looked terrible with all my burn marks and messy hair, but at least I was comfortable.

I busted out of the room with confidence. Fortunately all the students were in their class so no one could stop me and question me. I needed a computer for what I was to do and there was only one place that I could get one better than the laptops that the school donated us. Such high technology only a few would have in their possession, like in the Leader's office. My father's office.

I stood shortly out of the secretary's office. I knew my dad wouldn't be at his desk at that time because I overheard him talking with the Leader of the New York Institute and they were arranging a meeting. But how can I pass from the secretary without her seeing me?

Use your powers, you dumbass!

The small voice from before was back! I looked behind me but no one was there.

''Who... Who are you?'' I asked loudly but I got no reply. I must be sounding like a lunatic, talking to myself on an empty hallway.

And then it hit me. How did I not think of that?

With a move of my hand, I became invisible and walked casually into the office. Thankfully, the secretary was too busy typing something on her computer, long nails making an extra annoying tapping sound, to realize that the door opened by itself.

I tried to open his office door but of course, it was locked!

Can you not walk through it, you idiot?

''I would have thought of that!'' I quietly answered to the annoying voice.

I tried to step through the door. There is no way this is going to work...

And surprisingly enough, it did, I was in!

The room was darker than usual, making harder to search on the computer but I couldn' t risk opening the curtain.

I sat down on my father's comfortable chair and opened the computer. I waited to be hard to search through the files or at least for a code to appear but nothing. Instead, the first thing to appear on the screen was the photo of a boy. I recognized the messy, brown hair and green eyes. It was him.

Okay, this was going ridiculously well. Could my father have known that I was going to sneak in? Could he leave his computer unprotected on purpose? He could but would he?

With a silent click, I opened the mystery boy's file.

His name was Abaddon Black and he seemed to be wanted from the age of thirteen. He was later captured, at the age of 16, by Mr Carter and sent back to the Demon World. Two years later, he was released. By me...

I let a wanted Demon escape! How could I let it happen? Who knows what he is up to now that he is free?! Would people die because of me? I couldn't even think about it...

Suddenly I heard voices coming from the secretary's office. It was my dad and Mr Carter. I had to go. With quick moves, I sent the file to my phone and in a few seconds, I sneaked out of the office the same way I went in. Unnoticed.

In the last years before his imprisonment, he made minor attacks at several places in the USA. He hit Manhattan, Brooklyn, Washington Square. He was looking for something. I got up and opened my drawer, I took out a map and started circling the places that he had hit.

He may be looking for something, but I know where he is going next.

I am coming for you Abaddon, New Work will be your last destination.
