CHAPTER 6

10 2 1

Today was 28th February , a little less than 2 more weeks until Andreas' return. Things had been so slow at work, you wouldn't even think that we were taking up a big case.

Home was the same. My parents were acting completely normal, and it was all right, because it was not them who were making a life altering decision. Humph. When I'd told my brother he had laughed at my face and told me to stop trying to prank him. However, when he saw that I was not joining in on the joke, he had just gaped at me, definitely not like the hot shot, next in-line CEO of Fischer-Abbeglen and Co. He then told me that he would stay over that night and we talked about everything, Andreas, marriage, marriage to Andreas.

However, my favourite part of the evening was when he called his girlfriend to tell her that he would be staying over. I could practically hear her shrieks through the phone, and I was at least a couple meters away. She is such a bitch. I don't know what my brother sees in her.

Anyways, I was now down to my last case, and since Xavier was not assigning me any new ones, I would soon be bored to death once I was done with this. I almost had finished and now just needed one meeting with Mr. Stewart, and another with the police, and the I would be done with the case.

I scheduled the meetings and then begin filing up the last few cases I'd been on, and checked for any loopholes I might've missed in them.

When I next looked at the time, it was 5 and most of the people had gone home. I sighed and started packing up when Stacey popped into my cubicle, munching on a granola, her handbag with her.

"Boss wants to see you. Now."

"I, uh, okay I'll go up. You leaving."

"Yup, the office is almost empty anyways."

"Okay then, bye" I said, getting up from the chair.

"Bye Tìa." she skipped out of my office.

I opened the door of Xavier's office and sauntered in taking a seat.

"You still don't knock." he muttered dryly.

I shrugged. "What did you want to talk about?"

"Well, Andreas was going to arrive 2 weeks later, but today morning his flight ticket was exchanged for a flight for today evening. "

I nodded.

"He booked it with the same airlines, and his flight leaves-" he looked at his watch, them back to me "-in an hour. Also the extra fare required was withdrawn from his account."

"Not from Walter's? Initially, wasn't the transaction from his account?" Yes we tracked his account, the legal one only however. Switzerland's policy to provide complete privacy to their clients was like a thorn in our side now.

"No. This time the transaction was from his account which leads me to believe he is coming in early as a surprise."

I calculated in my head and realised be would be here by tomorrow afternoon.

"From what we have dug up, he does not have a very loving relationship with his father. Right?"

"No, but he loves his mom and sister dearly." Xavier answered me.

"Okay then. I will get on with the work. Also, why don't we discuss my work timings for after the marriage?"

"Well, there is not much to discuss, unless you take up the subject of your being able to work with the Abbeglens first. Also you will have to discuss your living conditions with them. It would be better if you are under the same roof as Walter, but if Andreas wants to live on his own, then don't push it. At all. You don't want to draw attention to it. In fact you don't need to draw attention to any of your decisions. Get it?"

" Yes. I'll also arrange to meet the Abbeglens this weekend. In fact, I'll ask my parents if we can go visit them tomorrow. It's Friday so I can say I wanted to meet Ariana."

"That would be great."

"Okay then I'll get going then. Bye Xavier." I get up from my seat.

"Bye Tìa." he smiles at me.

Once I get home, I FaceTime my parents.

"Hey Dad. Where's mom?"

"Hey baby girl. She is in the kitchen but I'll get her." I grin when he hollers her name. He is so lazy.

"Hey Nick. Why is your room- uhh- upside down."

"Because I am hanging upside down on my bed?"

"You'll get a permanent damage to your brain due to the blood rush." she chastised me.

"Honey, she already has a permanently damaged brain." my dad says to my mom.

"Mooommmm....." I whine to her and she whacks him upside on his head and I stick my tongue out at them.

"By the way, what are you guys doing tomorrow? I was thinking of going over to Ariana's, but I also want to come home because I miss you both." I say as I sit on the ground the right way up.

"Well, we could do one thing. We could visit the Abbeglens together." my mom suggested.

I grin and almost clap my hands, before remembering I had a phone in one hand. This is what I get for laying upside down, a brain fart moment. "How did I not think of it? That would be great. But are you two free?"

"Of course we are. Meet you at your flat at, say 6 o'clock?"

"Sure mom." 4 hours after he arrives. Perfect. Just then the buzzer sounded.

"Mom I think I have a guest. I'll talk to you both later."

"But you barely talked to me." my father pouts.

"We'll catch up tomorrow dad. Love you both. Bye." I hang up just as I reach the answer machine.

"Yeah Derek?" I ask the guard.

"Hello ma'am. Your brother is here and wants you downstairs."

I am puzzled. Why didn't he just come up? "Okay I'll be down in a moment."

I don't bother changing since I'm in leggings and a cropped sweatshirt. I just grab my denim jacket and get down to the lobby.

"Hey Luke. What are you doing here? Could've just come up" I say after I give him a hug.

"Actually, we are going out."

"Now?"

"Yep." he replies and turns to go back to his car.

"Well, okay. Glad you gave me a heads up." I mutter as we walk.
