From the moment we got off the plane Bobby had to take off to deal with a shitstorm that he labeled it that his brother caused which made him nonexistent for the rest of the day. Then before bed, the cancellation text came in before I left for work for the summer.
My Mirror: I have to cancel our lunch date!
My Mirror: I'm in meetings until late FaceTime date later?
Me: Twice in a day. I'm going to bed night.
My Mirror: I am so sorry baby. Call when you wake up!
My Mirror: I'll bring you breakfast for you leave.
The next morning he was a no-show, but my mom brought a to-go back to my room. I didn't order anything and I was waiting for Bobby, but I had a feeling he was going to cancel and I had zero time to worry about it. I opened it and it was my usual breakfast order. I sighed and was annoyed seeing it.
Me: Thanks for the delivery. I would have liked to see you. I get you're busy. We can talk later.
My Mirror: I'm going to kill my brother. He's taking all my time. I'm not being a good boyfriend right now.
Me: Do you have a meeting for the next 3hrs?
My Mirror: No just a shit ton of emails.
Me: Keep me company while I drive.
My phone rang on the front seat next to me and I quickly answered and put it on speaker. I mumbled a hello and he cleared his throat. "How's the drive going?"
"Regretting not riding with Marcus when he offered, but I'll be home in a couple of weeks for 2 days so I can finish packing stuff up." I tried to let him know how annoyed I was with him.
"And I will help." I could hear his smile.
"You don't have to. You're busy with Roman stuff." I tried to give an out.
"No, you're my girlfriend I'll help. Even though you should be moving into my place. You will be eventually." He laughed and tried to sound bright.
"Nope, just to be all alone all the time no thanks." The words tumbled out before I knew it.
"Ouch, then I'd have an excuse to finish work on time and or early to come home to you."
"You have that now, but this comes with mature relationships. I'm just being needy don't mind me." I lamented.
"You're not though. You are not asking for too much and I haven't been the best at meeting your needs. I'm sorry." He sounded disappointed with my comments.
"It's okay."
"You're letting me off too easy. Don't. Your needs are not beyond the scope of reasonable. I should have done better communicating and balancing my time. This is on me. This is the most I've talked to you and you're not being honest. If I upset you or hurt you I want to know. I want you to tell me."
"We just got back from Disney and the turnover for me leaving was fast. It's okay. You'll see me, text, call, FaceTime more okay." I didn't want to get into it while driving.
"Yes." He paused. "We'll talk more about this when I see you face to face and hopefully a box or two of your things will end up at my pace. As we move you in!"
"Wishful thinking and yes we can talk when I get back." He started spilling everything he was doing and had been expected to do. It was a wonder he was even conscious right now. We talked all the way there and through me checking in and going to set up my room in my cabin. He asked questions about my summer job. For a while, we sat in a comfortable silence. I fell asleep at one point and when I woke up he was still on the phone just typing away. We eventually hung up when his brothers came over and that was the last conversation we had. Then the sporadic calls and texts, time cut short, and cancellations happened again.
