Ava's P.O.V
Its the day of the picnic and I can't believe I didn't pick out any clothes I'm worried on what Alexandra is gonna think of me but I just pick up some jean shorts and a sleeveless top I don't know what exactly to do with my hair so I just get a curling iron and curl my hair and let it out from the ponytail i have a regret not buying lipgloss since i was at the store yesterday but i just get some chapstick and put it on my lips my mom makes breakfast but i want to save my stomach for the picnic "good morning sweetie" mom says " 'morning mom" i say i'll save the breakfast for tomorrow and i want to have space for the picnic she's fine with that and i help her pack all the things that we take for the picnic when were done its around 12:30p.m. and i take my phone from the charger and then i call Alexandra "hello?" she says "hi it's me Ava were going to the park in about 20 minutes i just wanted to know if you guys were ready" "oh my goodness! hey Ava I'm so sorry i didn't recognize who this was i forgot to put your number in my contacts anyways my sister is taking a shower and so I'm waiting for her to finish we'll be there around the time you guys are there" "okay i just wanted to make sure you guys were alright well bye" "oh thanks and bye" Alexandra says i really just wanted to know if she was okay because for some odd reason these past days the only thing has been her on my mind, but i know she doesn't like girls or did she ever state that? i don't know, but i do know that she's way too pretty for me anyways, i know that I'm way out of her league i take a 10 minutes nap then my mom wakes me up because my brother colton is on FaceTime on my moms phone and he wants to say hi to me "hey big bro" i say "whats up" he says "are you excited for my coming?" " sure i guess" "fair enough, have you heard from maxwell yet" which is my brothers best friend "no and why are you asking me this? shouldn't you know this for yourself? he's your friend you know" " yeah I know it's just that he doesn't text me anymore but whatever it's fine" I wonder what happened usually Maxwell wouldn't do that but I just decide to put that away for a while I'll talk to him about it when he comes, "where are you?" I ask "oh I'm just in the dorm bout to catch up on some sleep I just wanted to see how you and mom were doing you guys look nice are you going some place?" " we're going to the park for a picnic with our new neighbors we just wanted to be nice and invite them and show them another place than just the neighborhood" " oh that's nice who's In the family?" " a girl who's my age she has a mom and a little sister, they're all very nice" " oh that's nice! Any older chicks in the area?" " COLTON!" My Mom scolds "sheesh mom alright I'm still single it's really boring bro" " don't care!" After that my mom takes the phone back and she talks to Colton for a little bit then she gives it back to me "bye big bro see you Wednesday!" " bye lil sis see ya" and with that the call ends and me and my mom get into the car to go to the park. When we finally arrive there I don't yet spot Alexandra or her family for that matter but after we finish setting up I notice a car parking and then out steps Alexandra and her sister and her mom they bring a lot of soda and snacks I see they finally get to our table and they put all the stuff down "hey!" Alexandra says I can't help but blush the way her hair looks and her lips her eyes but I look away quickly before she notices "h- hello" I manage to speak but I say I have to use the bathroom and I leave I don't know how to face her anytime I look at her I just get this feeling and I can't help but blush I guess I really messed up but I wash my face and go back out side " sorry I just had to use he bathroom I hope I didn't take so long" "no your alright, do I look okay? I hope it doesn't look like I tried to hard I'm sorry why am I talking about my-" " your look really pretty don't second guess it" I interrupt,I just wanted to say that I guess " I look really ugly compared to you" I say but I'm just lowering my self esteem " no you look really pretty as well don't say that matter of fact let's take a picture I'll show you" we take 5 different pictures and she shows me I guess I look okay but maybe because it's always golden hours outside in California so everyone looks nice for taking pictures she sends them to me and in a little while we're eating hamburgers and hotdogs my mom brings the dogs out from the car and they run not to me actually but to Alexandra she hugs hem and they give her sloppy kisses she then gives her attention to the dogs and I just play some games on my phone a little later the Ice cream truck comes and I go and get an ice cream one for me and another one for Alexandra we go and sit by a shady tree and it feels really nice ecspcially when the breeze is blowing she asks "so like my mom said I can come with you guys in Wednesday to pick up your brother" " oh that's good" I say I see her smile and it makes me smile and we just laugh I know I have to ask her so I just do " um are you gay?" She looks at me with a serious expression and she looks a little sad but then it takes her a while to answer but she finally does she say " I uh- " " you don't have to answer I'm sorry" I say I feel so stupid " no it's fine, I'm queer I don't know what sexuality I like yet but I'm figuring things out you know it's kind've hard because before I moved here I liked a girl and she completely shut me out and that was the end of me you know?" " yeah I know how you feel I'm sorry I really I am" " oh it's fine you had a right to ask you were curious I can't blame you I mean I know your bisexual so fair is fair" " yeah let's just talk about something else okay?" " yeah of course" she says and she's back to her smiling self we talk and then we take a walk around the park and then in the evening there's fireworks which they show every Saturday night for about 4 weeks we watch it then we take more pictures and I can't help but smile more because even though I know I can't have her it's good to know that I can have her as a friend and that's enough for me before I know it I'm back in the car and going home I had a lot of fun today.
