Mermen are marine-dwelling, amphibious humanoids with the upper torso of a human and the lower torso of a fish.
Mermen were once human but were transformed by quickly adapting to there surroundings. At one point in time all Merpeople lived as one nation.(City Of Atlantis) being high in technology& intellegence they adapted quick to untimely demise. Atlantis fell because of the faults in the earths crust. When Pangea broke apart Atlantis was a great city along a lake. Making the city afloat, the ruler and his council decided to make preparation. The council and scientist calculated and foresaw the city being submerged by the sea around them. Can concocting a plan the ruler walked to the edged of the city alone going for a swim and then started to pray. The rule relized that not only him but the rest of his subjects loved the water . The water helped their city thrive, providing them nourishment, happiness, hope even in times of distress. Holding his breath underwater calming his mind in prayer he stated "whom ever that was in-charge in the heavens. Please help him he can't do this alone." At that moment he heard a voice. To fear no longer your people have lived by the water and now they will live in the water. .... "Who are you?"asked the ruler. There was no responds, then the presences was gone. ruler ended the prayer and surfaced the water. Seconds after he was pulled out the water by his guards. Whisked away to his palace and brought to the govern room. Later he was informed he was missing for three days. When to him it only felt like a few minuets.
Thinking about him praying underwater he recalls after while it was easy for him to breath. It dawns on him that he was being outrageous. The ruler tells the council about the voice and that he believes and there is nothing to fret over.
The next day he called an all city chime explaining to the people. No one believed him but a small orphan girl, he takes the girl under his wing and announces she will take his place after he is gone. Over the course of the next two months the ruler spent a week in each sector convincing the people with the little girl by his side. Every day around noon he would pray and listen for the powerful presence voice but he heard nothing.
LastTwo days of the two months
The ruler called a chime for the city again. this time 3/4 of the city believed that everything would be ok. The king stated "if you believe what the heaven have told us; meet in the palaces announcement hall you are welcome to stay the night. When the sun sets we will will truly meet the hand of the water that has helped us for the last three generations . As for all who do not believe can go back to your normal lives. when the city goes under you will be safe. But this will no longer be your home."The next day, city of Atlantis fell being submerged under water surrounding it. water crashing and rushing through and over ever square inch of the city from every the crack in the ground to the highest peek of the royal palace. After a ten minuets of silence in the water over coming the ruler, and his people. Suddenly he hears a roar cheering and sobs of happiness. Opening his eyes his little girls is looking up at him with a Hugh grin. "I knew it; he said that he would pull through!" The girl says. "who, who ; who told you that? who would pull though?"ask the king questioning
"The angel ; the angel told me that the one true God will grant us salvation long as we had faith." the king smiled and instructed the crowd that this is their new life and he will do his best to lead them. They live by herding fish, They live underwater but surface to sun themselves on large rocks.
Adult mermen are 5 to 6 feet long (tall) and weigh between 150 and 225 pounds. Their skin tone is fair to tan, hair color is usually dark brown (occasionally fair), while their scale color ranges from green to silver. Females, also known as mermaids, are 6 inches shorter than the males and weigh between 100 to 150 pounds. Mermen adorn themselves with coral and shell decorations. Merpeople speak their own language (with different dialects spoken by communities that are separated over wide distances), and 50% of all communities also speak locathah.

Habitat/
Merpeople society is heavily patriarchal. They prefer to be left to themselves and usually reject proposals of friendship or trade. They have strong territorial instincts and, while closely related to humans, they have no love for them. Males hunt and herd fish and protect their territory. Females raise children and tend to domestic affairs. Mermaids are also known for their creativity, and they produce works of art for the community (shell carvings, seaweed tapestries, and songs). Late 2010 more and more merpeople are mating with humans. With that being said their government are starting to draw territories line among there kind. As well with supernatural groups.
