I step out of the bus when my phone suddenly starts ringing.
"Hello?" I ask, not bothering to even look at the caller's ID.
"Hey Dinah," Nessie greets me cheerfully. "Where are you?"
"At the bus stop," I reply. "Walking towards the mall right now. We're meeting by the fountain, yes?"
"No, actually - we're sitting in our favorite café, meet us there, okay?"
"Yep, sure! I'll be there in like ten minutes."
"Cool, see you!" Nessie hangs up.
Mere seconds after that, I receive a text message.
From: Nessie
Oh, I forgot to mention - it's not just Mike who's gonna spend tonight with us. My friend James, whom you don't know yet as well, has just flown here from the USA. I hope you're gonna like both of them ;)
Woah, who the heck is this?! Nessie has never told me about any James from the USA before. If this was her friend, I would've heard about him much earlier... Oh well, it looks like I don't know my bestie at all...
But, it's Nessie's birthday today, the one she's been looking forward to her entire life. I can't let her down now. Maybe this James guy is her parents' friend's son or something, and she doesn't know him very well, yet he came to wish her a happy birthday?
Either way, I gotta hurry up, I don't wanna keep them waiting...
As I enter the café, Nessie waves at me. At her table, there's also a cute guy - that should be James. Wait, he looks a few years older than us... My assumption must be right, then - he for sure is a son of some friend Nessie's parents have back from the time they lived in America. Nessie was a toddler when her parents moved back here, to Poland. She couldn't have befriended anyone as such a little kid... Or could she?
I slowly make my way to the table, trying to put all those thoughts aside.
Damn, that James is so hot...
