Silent and perfectly still, the large green praying mantis clung to the tangled pink flower head of the Queen Anne's Lace. It's camouflage against the green grass behind it was perfect and it waited for its prey. After almost 300 miles of walking from New York City, the sight and stillness of the mantis made me stop and think. The mantis sat there, waiting for its prey to come to it. For me, now, it was time to slow down.
