(Decided to repost my one shots here for visibility :D)
"...so after Mere does Coolest Girl we got Granger Danger. Then we're gonna do To Dance Again, probably the apocalyptour version Joe, then Not Over Yet, I got some fun ideas for that and then..." Brian addressed the group in the rehearsal space they were given.
Joey walked over and sat next to Lauren putting an arm around her.
"So what are we gonna do for Granger Danger?" he asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Well I know we must've sang that song a million times at this point. And we've been goofing around with it lately, dancing like idiots, Meredith conducting us. So what do you wanna do this time? Sing each others parts?"
Lauren closed her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Aren't you completely sick of that song yet?" she asked him.
"Are you kidding me? That song is such an important part of my life. I wouldn't be here without it, and I definitely wouldn't be here with you without it." He kissed her forehead as she sat up and looked at him.
"What're you talking about?"
"Well think about it, without the show blowing up, we never would've travelled the world together singing that song a million times. Do you really think this would've happened without us spending 2 months on a bus together? Everything good in my life I owe to that song. My career, my friends, the love of my life. I don't think I could ever get fed up of singing Granger Danger."
Lauren considered him for a moment, and regretted how easy it was for him to convince her of something. His sweetness always wore down her jaded cynicism.
"Ok fine... You know how people have been hounding us about being together lately? Like, more than usual?"
"Yeeeeaah?" Joey was unsure of where Lauren was going with this.
" What if we leaned into it a little?"
"What do you mean?"
"What if we come out holding hands or something, and during the third verse when we're both singing, we sing really close to each other, like face to face?"
"I'd have to crouch down pretty far to be face to face with you Lo." he laughed as she punched his arm.
"And at the end, what if we kissed?" she asked, trying to sound as casual as she could.
"Are you feeling ok? You wanna kiss on stage?" he jokingly pressed his hand on her forehead, checking her temperature.
"I'm not asking you to make out with me on stage Jo, just a little peck. They'll go crazy!"
"And when someone records it and posts it online, you'll go crazy!" he replied, shocked at her sudden boldness.
"Come on Joey, it's not like we've been very good at keeping this a secret lately, all those live streams and stuff? We've been pretty obvious."
"Fine, if this is what you want to do. Don't say I didn't warn ya when your gram blows up later." Joey conceded, sounding more like a dorky dad than usual.
A few minutes later they were all heading out to lunch when Joey grabbed Lauren's arm and pulled her back into the room.
"So when you say kiss, you mean like this?" he mechanically leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss on her lips, barely making contact.
"Yeah, just like that." she coolly replied.
"Right, definitely not like this then?" he wrapped his arms around her and picked her up, kissing her deeply. She allowed herself to succumb to the embrace for a few seconds before pulling away from him.
"Definitely not like that. Now put me down!" she wriggled in his arms unable to hide a big smile on her face as they caught up to the others hand in hand.
