Nico's POV
I was woken up by the sound of car horns blaring from outside my window. Checking my phone, the time read:
'10:30AM'
I grabbed a short sleeve shirt and a pair of dark grey jeans from my bag and headed to the bathroom and took a quick shower.
The scars that littered my body were faded but still were visible against my skin. They weren't very pretty to look at but I had learnt how to accept them as being part of my image.
After getting dressed I stood over the sink and stared into the cracked mirror above it. If I were to leave the building I may have been swarmed by concerned bystanders at the very sight of my sunken cheeks and small frame.
I grabbed my aviator jacked and my pouch of money before I exited the building via the lobby door - after clearing a path of course.
I headed around town not really having a particular destination in mind. I just kept walking until something caught my eye which happened to be a small convenience store.
I felt drawn into the place. As if something was beckoning me into its walls.
I entered the store and grabbed an energy drink and then headed towards the counter. There was an older teen at the counter who had black and white hair. He had a blank look on his face but I did see him perk up when I came in.
Other than his appearance I also noticed a repugnant odour that came from his way, with dark stank-like tendrils grasping at the air around him.
It would have made me turn my nose up in disgust but I was so used to the smell that t made me slightly home sick.
The good old stank of death and suffering. Oh, how comforting...
My comfort didn't last for long as I placed the drink I had haphazardly grabbed onto the counter and waited for the other to scan it.
"Hey man, that will be four dollars," He told me as I pulled out a ten-dollar note and handed it to them.
Just above his shirt pocket was a small name tag that read 'Jason', so I assumed that was his name.
Thus 'Jason' opened the register and then proceeded to make some small talk... Well, he tried to.
"Bit chilly out today," He nodded at my jacket as I pulled it closer over my frame.
I shuffled my feet awkwardly as he handed me my change and my drink. I accepted both and gave a small mock salute in place of a wave and all but ran out of the shop. Once I had rounded the corner I let out a shaky breath and held a hand up to my chest to feel my beating heart.
I place my drink down by my side as I slid down the wall of the grimy alleyway next to the store I was previously in.
That was the most embarrassing moment of my life, I thought to myself as I hid my face in my hands and let out a shaky sigh.
I was so caught up in throwing myself a pity party that I didn't notice the man currently kneeling in front of me in concern.
"-ey man are you good?" My head shot up so fast that I ended up slamming the back of my skill into the wall behind me.
"Ah fuck-!" I exclaimed before looking up at the man who had a slightly amused smirk gracing his lips. a swear I heard a slight snort come from him too.
After my eyes focused fully on him I realized who he was.
The 'Jason' from the counter.
"Ah sorry," he said before backing up slightly and offering me his hand
