This takes place three days after the chapter "The Death City."
(Elizabeth Nicholas's point of view)I wait in my room most nights now. Ever since my father caught me. I haven't been out of the castle. I still hear the screams of my people, but I know deep down the time will come to an end soon. We will win the war. I see a raven land at my windowsill. It's a letter from Quinn. It reads:
Though the days grow longer I miss you dearly. I miss your sweet scent and even sweeter kisses. I bear the weight of our separation. And the suspense causes uneasiness to when I see you again. For I miss you dearly. TN
Best of women
♡ Truly yours, Q. ThatcherI read the letter. The elegance of it carries me to the stars. The nicely drawn heart carries me back to Earth. I must see him soon. I wonder what TN means. I sit and wait in my room until I hear a loud knock outside my door. I rush to my door. I open the door, and I see an out of breath soldier.
"Ma lady, we must-" I cut him off from speaking. I go lay in my bed. The screams grow closer outside. Suddenly, my door gets broken down. The soldier comes in. "We must leave now! Soldiers are surrendering to the revolters, joining them. We must leave before they break down our front gate."
I hastily grab my things and pack it all up. I rush down my stairs. I walk into the great hall to the throne room. I see my father sitting with his generals. His last two generals. One general revolted against the throne.
"Father, what's going on?" I asked.
"Eliza, our own soldiers are joining them. I want you to flee. You don't have much time. Flee and go south into the eastern kingdoms. They will take care of you. Search for a man named Kyros. He will keep you safe. Escape through the dungeons. Take care my child." My father says to me before ordering me to leave. I've heard about Peyton Kyros before. I don't necessary think its a good idea, but he may help me get back to Quinn.
Three guards and I run down corridors. Until I pass the window I snuck out only about three nights ago. I notice something by the window. The rope is hanging down the window. As a hand goes over my guards mouth. Two of my guards collapse from arrows coming out of the darkness. The last guard falls from a sword wound.
"Gua-" A hand flies over my mouth. It has a familiar smell about it for some reason.
"Shhh." You're okay my darling. Quinns voice echoes in my head. Out of confusion and survival instinct I jab my elbow in his stomach. I try and run only to be caught by a rebel in a soldier's uniform. I can tell he is a rebel because he is missing his helmet. All soldiers must have a helmet. Sixteen soldiers stand around me. A torch gets lit. I see there faces.
"Sir, what shall we do with her?" A man in a captain's armor asks.
"She will be my prisoner. Rowan tie her up." Quinn commands the captain. I realized in that moment the man I was... in love with is a monster, but I know deep down that can't be. Quinn must be a higher up because he was forced to be. I know deep down that's isn't who Quinn is. He's a true sweetheart. Rowan ties me up. I can't believe what is going on.

I stay there for an hour before I hear a loud horn noise. I spent my time watching men walk pass me. Them all helping the rebels. Rowan gets up from sitting on the ground and grabs me by a rope. He pulls me down corridors. Twelve soldiers surround me as I walk into the throne room. Dead bodies surround the throne. One catches my eyes. My father dead in golden armor. He lays with a sword pierced through his chest. The rebels cover each dead soul in blankets. To only carry them out. On the throne Quinn sits.
"Ma lady, let us rule together. I love you dearly, and I wish to marry you." Quinn says to me. He gets up from the throne. "Guards smelt down this throne. For today we start a new order. Where the people shall rule not one man. Bring the royal banquet table and set it to where the throne was. We shall elect seven to be our voices. They will rule the government fairly." Ten guards pick up the iron throne. They walk swiftly out of the throne room. In comes in the royal table. It is placed where the throne was. Men gather around Quinn. "We must elect three people right away. The rest can be elected later."
"All in favor of electing Quinn say I." A man says. It is followed by a loud shout of I's. It goes on like that until. Quinn, a rebel general named Stein, and a scholar named Alexander get elected. They all sit down at the banquet table. I watch with rage as Quinn smiles and laugh with his men. Hundreds of rebels walk in and out of the room. I can't believe my eyes. I ask why I was spared. Why I am not dead covered in a blanket like my father. The last dead body leaves the room. Rowan takes me to a tower which was prepared by the kingdom for distant travelers. I sit in my room as guards patrol outside. I hate this deep down. Deep down I am no prisoner. I watch as sunsets. Only to fall asleep by the windowsill.
