Lost In Paradise

Chapter 5

Ethan lead me to a door saying 'staff only' and then took me to a glass door leading to a verandah. He opened the door and waited as I stepped through, the view was fantabulous!

You couldn't quite see the beach but you could see the other side of the island, the houses, the resorts, the palm trees and all the tropical rain forests. The adventurous side of me wanted to explore, run, be free. But another side, one I couldn't quite recognise wanted to stay here with Ethan, was it a romantic side?

I looked up to Ethan and saw his eyes, ever so beautiful with the reflection of a tiki torch. The flames wavered and flickered, they were as lively as a child of Christmas Day.

I was so lost in the moment, thoughts and feelings that I forgot I had a handsome guy staring at me, I instantly snatched my gaze from his eyes and looked down at my hands.

"Ava, when you're done losing yourself in my dazzling eyes, would you care to join me?" Asks Ethan.

He leads me to a fleet of stairs. They are spiral stairs that wind up about 10 stories, Ethan starts making his way up, skipping every second step as he goes. I have to move quickly to keep up with him so I get a move on.

After conquering the stairs we are on a rooftop area. Once again there are tiki torches along the perimeter of the rooftop. I set my attention to the view, I was speechless, you had the rainforest and the beach it was...

"Amazing isn't it?"

"Ethan, this isn't just amazing, it's, it's..."

"Let me help you out, what letter does this word start with?"

"An S" I replied

"Oh... I've got it, supercalafragalisticexpialidocious"

"I was actually going for sensational, but I guess that'll do."

"Ava, all jokes, puns, comebacks and smart remarks put aside, I came her to talk to you about something, here sit down" said Ethan gesturing to a the floor, I sit down next to him hugging my legs with my arms, the same as he is doing. Oh no, we weren't even a 'thing' yet and he was already ending whatever we had. Does he have a girlfriend? Is it because he lives too far away? Wait, he doesn't even no where I live. Is he not feeling it?

"Ava look, I know I've only known you for what? Two days, and I know we haven't covered a lot of ground in terms of getting to know each other but I really like you."

"Ethan, that's sweet of you but why would you like me? There are stunning girls that arrive here on a daily basis, and out of all of them you choose me, a girl from Melbourne that has nothing better to do with her life than read and wonder. Why?"

"I like you because you are different, if I was looking for a girl that was always concerned about her image, tries to impress boys and can't laugh at herself I would have been in a relationship. But you, the first time I saw you, you were exploring unlike the other teenage girls tanning while reading about Channing Tatum's new haircut, you're different"

"I'm abnormal?"

"Highly abnormal!" He said we have a little giggle. "Oh and by the way, I know I may seem cocky, rude and inappropriate at times, okay all the time. But I mean it in the kindest way, I'm not impolite and I won't mess around with you. I don't enjoy being serious and upright, but I am mature. It's just, jokes are my way around things under any situation, other than this one."

"And what situation is this?"

"Let's just say it's one that is worthy of a whole new category"

"Ethan" I say as I wriggle closer to him so our hips touch, I rest my head on his shoulder and stare at the horizon.

"Yeah"

"You sounded like you were trying to convince your girlfriends parents that you are a great guy, you know, earlier when you were trying to explain your weird ways to me" I say with a giggle.

"Damn it, you realised that too" he said.

"I sure did"

"We better get going the cleaners come up here at 11:15, and it looks like that's in 4 minutes"

"Does that mean it is 11:11?"

"Yep, make a wish"

I close my eyes and wish that I would get a kiss from Ethan, I'm not asking for much, just a little peck.

When I open my eyes Ethan's eyes are still closed, he must have one long wish! When he opens his eyes he leads me to the stairs and we started to walk down them.

Being the gentleman that he is, he offered to take me to my room. I accept and tell him my room number, I'm glad he knows this place well otherwise I would be lost right now. We make it to my hotel room door and he says "I enjoyed tonight maybe we should do it again"

"Well, I'm actually leaving tomorrow morning"

"Oh well in that case there is one more thing I have to do" he says. He then leans in and kisses me, just lightly and then stops, I don't want him to but I hear a voice and suddenly feel colour rush over my face.

My sister was standing at the door with one of my tampons up her nose, it is still wrapped up in green wrapping. "Look Ava, I'm postman Nicholas when he has a cold!" Screamed Imogen. I could try sending her away but the moment is ruined, I can't help but laugh and I am joined in by Ethan laughing behind me.

"I think it's time to leave, thanks for coming it meant a lot, and if I don't see you tomorrow, have fun with... Life. Bye" says Ethan.

As he walks away I run up and give him a hug, "you better come and see me tomorrow". I don't want to let to go but I know I have to, but before I can I feel small arms wrapping around my legs.

"Why are we hugging?" asks a small voice.

"No reason Imogen, let's go back inside" I turn Imogen around and start walking I turn around and wink at Ethan. I then step in the room and close the door behind me, what an unforgettable night.
