     Obi's Pov~
I fiddle with a kunai knife, humming to myself. I've always hated getting injured because being hurt meant being cooped up in a bed all day, and that really isn't my style. Sighing, I let my head fall back onto the soft pillow that laid behind me. I looked down at the bandages that were stretched tightly around my otherwise naked chest.

Haha, I bet Y/N would love to see me shirtless. She's such a perv. It's too bad that she's out on Zen's orders.

I won't be able to run errands for Zen with Y/N for a while.

I frowned and laid the kunai down on a desk beside me, making my arm ache. My shirts and weapons laid on the desk, and I wondered if Shirayuki had questioned any of the metal items I carried when she stripped me clean of them. I felt vulnerable without my weapons attached at my sides, but what could I do with weapons anyways? I could just barely sit up.

All the sudden, I hear a tap on the window. Please let it be Y/N..

"Yo kitty," Y/N muttered as she hopped through the window. "How's lying around in bed going for you?"

"Boring as hell," I answered, groaning. "I feel useless. And it sucks."

"You feel useless because you are useless," she remarked and I rolled my eyes.

"Gee, thanks," I murmured, grimacing. She started to giggle that giggle that sounds like a choking donkey and I laughed as well.

"Zen told me to guard you for today.. at least for most of it," she said, smiling. "So here I am." I felt secretly overjoyed, but I didn't want to let that show.

"You? Protecting me? Pfft," I laughed, rolling my eyes, "I bet I could fight better than you, even now." She quirked a brow.

"Try me." Suddenly scared, I laughed nervously.

"N-no thanks.." She laughed, cupping her gloved hand over her mouth. The gloves and really the whole work uniform looked amazingly good on her. Damn, and the open part by the knees--ok Obi, stop. Stop being a perv.

"Are you checking me out, you pervert?" She raised a brow, staring at me suspiciously. I laughed.

"There's nothing to look at," I answered, sounding surprisingly convincing. She scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"You aren't really candy for my eyes either, sunshine," she remarked, and I laughed.

"I'm hot and you know it."

"Nope, not really," she answered, and I couldn't help but feel a little hurt although I knew she was joking. Jeez, what is up with me lately?

     "Hey, where's Shirayuki?"
I could tell by the look on her face that she felt hurt by that question.

"She's doing work. Y'know, she kinda has a life unlike me," she laughed, and I laughed nervously along with her.

"Well, you make better company than her."

     "Really?"

"Yup." Y/N smiled, and sat down on the bed at my feet. I sat up, sharp pain shooting around my waist as if a thorny vine had been wrapped around me.

"Ow..." But I managed to sit up straight, so... That's something.

"Don't overwork yourself," Y/N looked concerned. I smiled weakly.

"You and I both know that I don't ever listen to that advice," I laughed.

"You're right," she chuckled, "but if you ever want to get out of that bed again, you'd better listen to me." She gave me a threatening look and I nodded.

"You're scary," I whined, scratching the back of my head--which caused my arm to smart in pain.

"Stop hurting yourself," Y/N grumbled, "just stop moving for once. Jeez." I rolled my eyes.

     "Hypocrite."

"Huh?" She looked confused at my accusation.

"Don't you remember? Once when you got hurt really bad, I ran to get help and I was almost back to where you were with the help you needed when I saw you gone. Turns out you had stumbled through the forest with a broken ankle and a gash in your hip and you only made things harder for yourself," I recalled the story, sighing. "You're not the one to tell me to take care of myself." Y/N smiled sheepishly.

"Which is why I don't want you to make the same mistakes, young man," she said with a firm tone, and I held in laughter as I struggled to keep a straight face.

"Alright mom," I ended up chuckling near the end, but my amusement was cut short when I saw the deadly look in her eyes.

"Do I look old enough to be your mom, cat??" She leaned in and glared at me.

"N-no ma'am," I said nervously, and she broke out giggling.

     "You're so easy to scare."

"I'm only scared that I'll say something wrong and that you'll hate me even more," I mumbled under my breath, but I could tell that she had heard me from the look on her face.

"You see," she paused, "it's not that I hate you. It's just that I don't quite trust you after what you did.."

     Your Pov~
"You see," I paused, "it's not that I hate you. It's just that I don't quite trust you after what you did.." I felt bad saying this to him after he had told me how much he missed me and regretted running away 4 years ago, but I didn't want to lie to him. It seemed so unlike him to run like a coward, but that doesn't mean he won't do it again... I want to believe him but it's hard.

He smiled sheepishly, hurt lingering in his golden eyes. Guilt settled into my stomach.

"That's alright. You don't need to explain it," he laughed sadly, "I already know."
I felt so bad. Am I wrong for thinking this way? Is it my fault that I don't trust him or his own fault?? I--

"That guilty look doesn't suit you at all, snail.." He lifted his hand and patted my head, although I could tell by the look on his face that even that simple gesture hurt him.

".." I remained speechless. 'Snail' had been Obi's nickname for me ever since him and I were both sent to the assassin's camp, but he hardly used it now. I felt so worked up. Jeez Y/N, stop being so sensitive..

I smiled weakly, and Obi lowered his hand from my head.

     "I'm not guilty."

Obi ignored my statement and sighed, grabbing a knife from the small desk beside his bed. He traced his fingers lightly over the blade, staring longingly out the window.

"This sucks. I wish I hadn't been such an idiot," he mumbled, and I tilted my head.

     "What do you mean?"

"Well I would've gotten out with nothing but a gash on my shoulder if I hadn't tried to attack that little.." his voice trembled and he took a deep breath, "well, nevermind."

Sorry for the late update!! I was having serious issues trying to tie two events together with a chapter, if that makes any sense. =P
