I picked up the stick, inspecting it. It was cracked, and the leaves ahead were smashed. Me and Obi were sent ahead of the group to track Zen, and we eventually found a patch of blood-stained dirt. We'd followed a trail of flattened leaves and cracked sticks for a while, wondering just how far this person had taken Zen.

"I smell fire," Obi muttered quietly, lifting his nose to the air. I did the same and took a deep breath through my nose. I could faintly smell smoke.

"You're right," I replied in a whisper, and we followed the scent of smoke. It started to get stronger the more we walked until we heard voices. On instinct we both hopped into a tree together, perched on opposite branches.

"So what are we gonna do with 'im, Boss?" A gruff voice with an Irish accent asked, getting a deep grunt in reply.

"We'll see if his little army will follow him.." a deep voice answered.

"But nobody knows this forest better than us," the Irish voice muttered.

"Maybe not," the deep voice agreed, "but they might have trackers." I clicked my tongue. They were right.

"It's them," Obi whispered, "The Black Hawks.."

"Really?" I asked in disbelief, and he nodded. Well, it made sense. I smiled. "That makes our job easier." Obi bobbed his head in agreement before we both hopped out of the tree. I took a dagger and marked an X on the tree to remember it before we both headed back to tell Mitsuhide and Kiki that we'd found the prince... And the Black Hawks. How convenient.

"Miss Kiki," Obi said, catching Kiki's attention. "The Black Hawks have Master. We found their base." Kiki looked impressed, as did Mitsuhide. Then Mitsuhide cupped his hands on the sides of his mouth and yelled,

     "LET'S GO SOLDIERS!!"

Me and Obi once again took the lead with Mitsuhide, Kiki, and the soldiers following a distance behind. I found the tree I had marked and we snuck ahead, planning an ambush. We would jump out and distract the bandits while the soldiers closed in on the camp, and then Kiki and Mitsuhide would come help us.

Eventually the camp came into sight. There was a big bonfire, and many shacks were set up along with some large tents. Many men were gathered around the fire but I was sure that many more resided in the tents and shacks.

"Maybe we can go to Maiya and sell him," the gruff Irish voice said, coming out of a short stout man with a big red beard and no hair. Typical, much?

I knew about Maiya, in fact it had been me and Obi's birth place. It was a mean place. There wasn't really any actual prince so the country mostly consisted of royalty-hating outlaws. They would probably buy Zen for a lot, and then God knows what they would do to him.

"The Maiyans are known for their dirty tricks," a tall, muscular man with scruffy black hair said, the deep voice belonging to him. Then he must be the Boss, based on what the Irish guy said.

"You take the tall man and I'll take out that Irish guy," I said so quietly that my voice was hardly audible, but Obi understood. He stalked off to the right and quietly climbed a tree that stood behind the tall man with black hair. I followed him, staying on the ground behind the Irish man. He didn't look very fit, and I could probably take him out easily and help Obi with the boss. If my assumption was correct, capturing the black haired man would put us at an advantage as the bandits wouldn't have a leader.

I nodded to Obi and he sprang out of the tree, tackling the tall man. Before any of the men could react, I leapt out and got the Irish man in a choke hold. As I expected, he didn't put up much of a fight and quickly passed out. I released him after that, not wanting to kill him. The tall guy was a good fighter, and he had the advantage against Obi as he towered a few inches over him. Ha, Obi's such a shorty. A young man with like light brown hair charged at me and I kneed him in the stomach. Twirling around, I darted to avoid his sword and pulled out a dagger of my own. He swung his sword at my left foot, leaving his right shoulder open, so I jumped up and jammed the dagger into his shoulder before kneeing him in the gut once more. He stumbled back and dropped his sword, and I quickly picked it up and threw it before he could try to grab it back. I walked over and shoved him to the ground, putting my foot on his head. I cracked his neck, not breaking it but popping it, and he passed out. He'll be out for a while.

The tall man had Obi backed into a tree as he jabbed a dagger at him, but Obi dodged each shot. He ducked under the man's arm and flipped behind him, slamming his elbow into the man's back. The man slammed into the tree face first, and then I stepped in and stabbed a needle into his neck. He quickly fell down. Works every time.

I then turned to see Mitsuhide and Kiki dealing with the two other men that had been around the fire, while more men filed out of the tents and shacks. What a pain.

     Obi Pov~
I stood still in the now empty camp, panting. They had put up an awful fight. More than half of the soldiers had been injured but nobody died, which had been better than expected. I had a dagger in my right thigh that I didn't dare pull out--well, I learned my lesson from the time I pulled one out of my shoulder. Some idiot I am.

My poor abdomen had suffered another gash, although not as bad as last time. I had another gash along my shoulder, my collar bone was likely broken, and I probably had a few cracked ribs. Everything ached and stung, and my clothes were soaked in blood, but I was happy. The bandits were gone, and no one had died. Maybe all of us were covered in wounds, but at least it was over. Y/N had a gash across her back, adding to the many scars I'd seen there before, and Mitsuhide had a deep slash in his chest and probably a few broken ribs. All of the soldiers had been injured in some fatal way as far as I knew, a few having cuts in their head and broken arms and stabs in their stomachs.

Now all that was left was to find where they kept Zen.

Kiki was the only one of us who hadn't been injured too badly and only had a shallow cut on her shoulder and obviously many bruises on her torso and legs, so she was going to search through the shacks and tents for Zen while all of us rested and got basic first aid so we could all return home. Shirayuki is probably worried sick by now, especially about Zen. I grimaced as I watched Y/N walk up to me weakly, limping. I grabbed her wrist and we both sat down against a tree, although Y/N didn't lean against the tree because it would hurt her back. Her H/L (hair length) H/C hair was matted and blood stained, and she had the start of a black eye.. but she was still beautiful.

"Urgh, I think I broke a rib," she complained, holding her chest. I snorted with amusement.

"I don't think anyone nailed you in the chest, Y/N," I responded. She shrugged, wincing. I'll bet that hurts. What an idiot she is.

"Like you were watching," she grumbled, and I bit back the urge to laugh. I watched her fight the whole time, in fact I wouldn't have gotten such a wound on my abdomen if I'd been paying more attention on my own fight, but she'd never believe that. "I think I might have broken a rib when that kid knocked me into a tree."

"You're stronger than letting a tree crack your ribs," I chuckled, "even if you are so weak you get knocked over by a 12 year old.." She rolled her eyes, and I think she would have punched me in the shoulder if I didn't have a bloody gash on it.

"You're one to talk," she muttered, "look at you. You look like hell." She tried to act tough and mean but I could see the concern glinting in her eyes as they lingered on all my wounds.

"I'm fine," I clicked my tongue, "I'm looking better than you anyways. At least I didn't have someone bruise my gorgeous face." She laughed,

"What gorgeous face?" Before I could respond, Kiki came back with Zen leaning against her, his arm wrapped around her neck as he limped on one leg. It looked like he had a broken ankle. Ouch.

It took a while but eventually we got everyone back to the castle. The pharmacy was packed and the infirmary even more so, all the beds filled with soldiers. I sat on a cushioned stool with Zen and Kiki by my side while we both waited for Shirayuki to treat our wounds.
We were all arguably the least injured, as Kiki only really needed her shoulder to be wrapped up and Zen needed a splint for his ankle. I, on the other hand, would probably need a lot of bandage for my back and some type of treatment for my eye that was now swelled shut, and as it turned out I had indeed broke a rib, but I guess they prioritized the injured soldiers over me. Spoiled brats. Some of them were barely injured at all.

Sorry for the late update. Tests have started for my school (why do we have to take tests so close to the end of the year) and I've been a little busy. Hope you still enjoyed this though!
