"I say we abandon them," Shizuko declared. "At least that's a problem out of my life."
"Are you crazy? You heard what Lara said. If one of them dies, we can kiss our universe goodbye," Atalanta argued. "How can you not worry? You die too!"
Shizuko crossed her arms in distaste. Her silver brows were pressed together, forming a disapproving frown at the dark-haired girl. The difference between them wasn't as vast as they might seem. They're strong, they're the best in what they do, and they listen to nobody. This proved to be a clashing point in both girls' personalities, which would most certainly lead to a disastrous outcome.
Death X was wise enough to sneak away before anything physical occurred. Being half-demon, he was able to sense his areas and auras better than anyone else. He knew when to avoid trouble and when to interfere. It's part of his charm, after all. The prince in shining armour that gets his groin kicked by an alien every three minutes.
Ow.
He equipped an oxygen mask before diving out of the hatch and into open space. The anti-gravitational setting was a disadvantage, but he was able to adapt just in time before he encountered the pirate ships. Fortunately, Vargoba was persistent as he is vicious. Using his chains as a grappling hook, he manoeuvred himself on one of the smaller ships. Without creating a sound, he knocked out the cronies before they responded.
From below, he could see the youngsters being youngsters. In the hundreds of years of his life, this crew was most definitely a first. With the other two girls capable of defending themselves and everyone else, the other three were clearly impulsive and young, with one having a mere fifty-year age gap with him.
Still, that didn't stop her from acting like a three-year-old. With the two powered individuals remaining in the ship, he was the only one that could reel them back in before they caused any unnecessary damage.
But wasn't Ainya and Sky still in a fight? Why would either of them comply to the other? Could it be Lara's plan? No—she was too timid and shy. The only culprit to leading this incredulously lunatic operation was none other than Diana.
Of course it had to be her.
Yippee.
Why are kids acting like this these days? They're bound to be discovered. From what he observed, neither of them had invisibility.
The four of them pressed their backs against the side of the main ship, careful to not make a sound. Diana's plan was simple. Since Vargoba recognized the top #1s, he wouldn't expect them. They would launch a surprise attack on him and end this battle before it occurred. With Sky's diversion-like ability, Diana would go head-to-head on him with her power with Lara assisting with her teleportation. Despite having not much of a combat ability, Lara could teleport her opponents to the sun itself.
Sky and Ainya may not have much of a communication protocol beforehand, but they'd cooperated for years. They knew each other's moves and tricks, whether they liked it or not. With an offensive shield as an addition to Ainya's arsenal, their fighting chance had increased by a mile.
Shizuko and Atalanta drew the line. The priority was Vargoba, and neither of them wasted spare time. Putting differences aside, they devised a plan, though it took all of Atalanta's patience not to strangle the alien. They noticed Death X already in action, so they couldn't just stand by and let them hog all the fun.
"How do we get to him?" Atalanta quizzed. "He has mobility that we don't. Especially in space."
Shizuko scoffed. "You think I survived this long by dumb luck and kissing your boss's feet? Fuck nah. You're on your own."
