Chapter 10; Fulfilled Promise

It was dark, he could hear his name being yelled out, a concerned yet familiar voice was calling him. When Sans had opened his eyes, he was in the embrace of his little brother, they both were panting rapidly, covered in sweat, the house was a mess, bone attacks everywhere and Sans's eye was glowing blue and a tint of yellow, his brother was wounded, filled with scratches.
 
He held Sans close as if he wanted him to calm down. When Sans came to his senses of what had just happened he pulled away and rapidly checked Papyrus HP; 'HP 6/100' how? Couldn't Sans only deal 1 DMG to people who only have 1 LV and no EXP? There would be no other explanation excpet that this has been going on for a while or... he had hit Papyrue with his Gaster Blaster "S-SANS...? H-HAVE YOU CALMED D-DOWN...?" Sans nodded, "i'm sorry, b-bro... i-i'm sorry for h-hurting you... i'm s-so sorry..." Papyrus gently rubbed Sans's head "IT'S A-ALRIGHT, SANS. YOU JUST HAD A NIGHTMARE..." after a few seconds of silence, Sans asked "how long has it been... since you found me like this and... what date is it...?" Papyrus replied "IT'S BEEN AROUND 1 HOUR AND IT'S SATURDAY, APRIL 11TH." Sans sighed, time reset again, he gripped onto Papyrus shirt "i'm sorry bro for attacking you, i don't know what came over me. but thank you for hurting yourself to help me... you really shouldn't have..." Papyrus pulled away and held Sans's shoulders while staring at him, Sans was shocked "THERE'S NOTHING TO BE SORRY FOR, SANS. I LOVE YOU AND I KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WENT THROUGH FOR MY SAKE, EVEN WHEN WE WERE KIDS. YOU RAISED ME WHEN YOU YOURSELF WAS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD, YOU KEPT ME HAPPY AND CARED FOR ME, I TRULY LOVE YOU AND CARE ABOUT YOU, AND... I FULFILLED MY PROMISE, SANS." Sans stared him, eye sockets widened, Papyrus gave him a warm smile. Sans lunged forward to his brother and they both fell on the floor "i'm so happy..." They hugged each other for a little longer until Sans spoke "h-how? how do you r-remember?" Papyrus answered "I WAS DREAMING ABOUT EVERYTHING WE DID BEFORE THE RESET, EVERYTHING YOU TOLD ME, AND AFTER I DIED AGAIN AND AGAIN, EVERYTHING WENT BLACK THEN I APPEARED TO BE IN SPACE, A BLACK FIGURE WAS IN THE DISTANCE, WHEN I APPROACHED IT... I WOKE UP HEARING THINGS BREAK AND YOU CRYING OUT LOUD AND SCREAMING AND... HERE WE ARE NOW." Sans's eye sockets widened, Papyrus spoke again "SANS, THE MAN SEEMED SO FAMILIAR AND I SAW A PICTURE OF HIM AND US IN YOUR NOTEBOOK, ARE YOU NOT TELLING ME SOMETHING IMPORTANT?" Sans replied "yeah... i'll tell you tomorrow, for now, we should rest." Papyrus nodded and Sans got off him, before Sans could walk away, Papyrus gripped his older brother's shirt and asked "SANS, UM... COULD YOU SLEEP WITH ME TONIGHT...? I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE YOU ALONE... AND... I WANT TO STAY WITH YOU A LITTLE LONGER..." Sans turned to face Papyrus and smiled "sure, paps. do you want a bed time story, too?" Papyrus eyes lit up in excitement "YES, PLEASE!" Sans chucked, Papyrus held Sans's hand and guided him to his room, Papyrus got comfy under his bed sheets, Sans asked him "so, paps. what do ya wanna read?" Papyrus responded immediately "FLUFFY BUNNY!" Sans chuckled and pulled out a book called 'Fluffy Bunny' from Papyrus's shelves, he sat down on the edge of Papyrus's bed "once upon a time, a fluffy bunny roamed the lands..."
 
"... and they all lived happily ever after on the surface with their family. the end." Papyrus was already asleep, Sans smiled while looking at his brother, he slowly and quietly got under the sheets with Papyrus and hugged him, Sans muttered out a few words in a gentle voice "i love you so much, paps." before falling asleep.

Papyrus almost never hears those words coming from his brother but he didn't need it to be told to him to know it's true. After all, Sans sacrificed so much for him, he whispered back "I LOVE YOU, TOO, BROTHER." Papyrus turned around to face Sans, he was sleeping peacefully, he gently pulled Sans closer to him and fell asleep.
