Let's Go & Start Again

"Sonic." Whispered a familiar voice, helping Sonic escape his dream and come back to reality. He opened his eyes slowly, letting them get used to the small light that peered through. Once used to it, he looked around for the voice and stopped when he saw Shadow sit at the edge of the bed.

"Shadow, what is it?" Sonic asked and gasped, remembering what had happened the previous night before. Shadow whipped his head round and rested on side, using his arm to raise his head up.

"Good morning sleepy." He whispered and leaned down, stealing a kiss from Sonic, making him blush as he came back from his dreamland again.

"Good morning Shads." Sonic yawned and curled up, not wanting to get out of bed. But Shadow had a surprise for Sonic. One he knew Sonic would love.

"Sonic, get ready and come downstairs. I have a surprise for you, but only when you're ready." Shadow smiled and got up but not before giving Sonic a soft kiss on the head. He made his way out of the room, back to the kitchen where he had his plan in action.

Sonic speedily got ready and headed straight for the kitchen, eager to know what Shadow had in store for him. He peeked through the door and saw the black and red hedgehog pouring some soup into a bowl, putting a spoon in and setting it on the table. It was followed by bread and juice. Sonic's mouth began to water as he sneaked up behind Shadow and covered his eyes, hearing a gasp escape from him.

"I didn't know you could cook. You never fail to please me Shadow."

Shadow grinned and pulled Sonic's hands away, resting them on his chest instead.

"Well, when you had to look after a 12 year old for a while, you had to be able to cook. They're so fussy." Shadow complained, kissing Sonic's forehead as he walked them over to the table, plonking Sonic down.

"Mm, smells amazing." Whispered Sonic and took the spoon, having a taste. He could taste the vegetables running down his throat, warming his body up. Shadow smiled and watched Sonic's expressions, happy he liked his soup instead of gagging.

"So Shadow. What's the surprise?" Sonic asked, taking another spoonful in his mouth, chewing the vegetables. Shadow smirked and punched his own hand as a threat, making Sonic whimper a little.

"I'm just joking, I wouldn't do that to you. Well, I have but...ugh anyway the point is." Shadow fought with himself, trying to find the right words. Sonic laughed and finished his soup, coming over to Shadow and sitting down on his lap.

"Sonic, since you have came here you've changed me. For the better of course and I like the new me. The one that smiles and can joke around. You've done amazing things for me so now I want to return the favour. You're going home." Shadow smiled and ran his gloves hand through Sonic's quills. Sonic grinned widely and hugged Shadow tightly, kissing his ear.

"Shadow! Thank you! Thank you so much." He laughed and smiled, nuzzling into Shadow who smiled, but sadly. Sonic pulled back, sensing Shadow's sadness.

"Aren't you coming too?" He asked, knowing this would be tough on Shadow.

"I can't. I belong up here. Besides, Eggman would kill me anyway when he finds out I let you free." Shadow whispered the last part, looking away from Sonic. This was hard.

"But Shadow, we are a team. Please come back. Eggman, he can't kill you, you're the ultimate life form." Sonic muttered, holding Shadow's hands tight to his chest.

"Sonic, I want to go and I do. It's just going to be hard. This is all I know." Shadow looked around.

"Shadow, we can visit here every week. I promise. I can't be with out you anymore and you need me. Come back with me Shadow and we can start a good life, you deserve a good life pal." Sonic nodded, agreeing with himself and kissed Shadow softly. Shadow returned the soft kiss with moving his own lips against Sonic's.

"Will you?"

"I...Yes I will come back with you Sonic."

"Thank you Shadow. You'll love it down here." Sonic smiled widely and hugged Shadow again, making Shadow smile in return at how stubborn yet beautiful Sonic was.

"Sonic, I love you and I want to be with you forever now."

"I love you too Shadow and wish granted." Sonic touched Shadow's chest, feeling his heart beat.
