Chapter 15 He figured it out

I had been in Maldives for several days; everything here was good except for the food.  Food was the only thing that I could not adapt to.

In hotel mainly western food was catered, though it was rich in variety and all yet it did not suit my palate. In the beginning I tried to bear it but after eating it for a few days I finally began to revere the masochistic spirit of the westerners since…they eat such kind of thing for a lifetime, for a lifetime?
Eventually, I discovered some Chinese food, even though it was only watery seafood soup and rice porridge but still it was edible….

I thought if I were an ape, then I would have a very healthy and happy life in Maldives since the three meals I was eating everyday mainly consisted of fruits.

Unfortunately I was having a diet rich in whole grain, as a result within a few days of coming to Maldives, I had miraculously lost one kilogram of meat!

Of course I was against this additional feature of the hotel ie. Losing weight, but there was no other way, ah. Had I known earlier that food here was so abnormal then don’t know about anything else but would have definitely packed a box of ‘Master Kong’* to get me through the stay over here!

*MASTER KONG: A brand of instant noodles.

Just so, I also had to admire Jiang Li. I could clearly see that he also did not like to eat western food yet he still relished it regularly.

So I asked "Jiang Li, Do you like the food here?"

Jiang Li: "Dislike it."

Me: "Then how could you eat so much?”

Jiang Li: "If I won’t eat then I will feel hungry, stupid!"

Okay, I must admit that there’s a huge difference between the thinking of a normal person and abnormal person, now I finally understood this.

So I seized the opportunity to ask him: "Then, the food that I cook is good or not?” I coaxed him internally ‘say it’s good, say it’s delicious!’

Jiang Li thought for a moment, ultimately made a fair assessment: “Not bad.”

Me: wow ha ha ha ... ..

... ..

Today, I and Jiang Li were eating dinner when suddenly my phone rang.

I was outraged, who would call me at this point of time and increase my phone bill. I pulled out my phone, took one look at the screen, turned out it was ‘lingering’ Wang Kai.

I hesitated and hesitated about what to do but that guy kept calling again and again, extremely determined, so I had to press the answer key.

Me: "Wang Kai, return me the charges for this call!”

Wang Kai: "Yan Yan, quickly come to the beach!"

Me: “What happened?"

Wang Kai: "Since today is your birthday, I wanted to give you something."

I suddenly realized: "Today is my birthday, I forgot ...."

Wang Kai "Hurry over to the beach; I have something good that I want to give you.”
