I stared into Sabertooth's hazel eyes. Her tabby fur was soft and dark stripes curled around her tail. She was one of my very best friends.

"Hey, Sabe," I whispered, "Do you believe in ghosts?"

She glared at me and purred.

"I'll take that as a yes. Have you ever seen one?"

She bit my hand and gnawed on it. Didn't hurt too much.

"I'll take that as a no." I said, prying my hand out of her mouth.

The great morning sunlight shone from the open blinds. Looks like he wasn't shy today.

I hesitated as I turned on the tv to see what was going on this time.

"Breaking news; a horrifying scene in Montgomery, Alabama leaves the world questioning themselves. Here is Molley Winstead, a bystander who saw it all."

"There was a white man holding a knife in his right hand. A leather whip in the other. An elder African American woman was tied to a huge oak tree. She was blind from what I could see. The lady's mouth was gagged with a dirty rag, and she wore poverish clothing.
I couldn't look away--I wanted to but I just couldn't--as the white man slit the woman's throat; she bled out everywhere, choking and gargling and screaming hoarsely for help. I assumed that it was another one of those 'reenactments', like the one from New York. When I ran to the tree to help her, they...they both vanished into thin air."

I choked on the Lucky Charms I was eating. "Yo, mom! Come look at the news!"

"I'm busy, sweetie!" She responded, the sounds of clanking dishes and running water drowning out her voice.

I wiped the bit of milk that was left on my lips and looked at the grandfather clock on the wall. It was almost eight.

I needed to know about this.
