"You're the guys f-from the news! The ghosts!" I cried out.
"Of course we are, love. My name is Samantha D'Vónne. Nice to meet you, young monsieur." Samantha shook my hand and did that European cheek kiss and smiled. "This is Collin and Mabelle."
Collin chuckled. "Sir, you've come a long way."
"Long way? What? Where am I?" I asked, the white plastered room leaving me dumbfounded. I felt so lost and felt high.
"You're in the House. Of Ghosts, that is." Collin said, patting my shoulder. "Welcome, chap."
I whimpered. The three looked pretty real...
As Collin turned away to have a chat with the others, I regained my sanity and stared at the three in disbelief. I then proceeded to stick my hand through Collin's exposed blood and muscle as he was talking.
"Nice." I chuckled.
Collin glared down at me, and I realized that he had stopped talking. I slowly pulled my hand away, an awkward poker face stretching across my face.
"What a curious boy," Samantha said. She looked over at Collin and smiled. "Give him the procedure."
Collin nodded, and quickly went to retrieve a stethoscope from one of the metal cabinets.
"Oh, lord. What's happening?" I complained.
Mabelle tapped her cane on my head. "No worries, child. It'll be alright.
Yeah, from your perspective.
"We do this to everyone who comes down here, but usually someone who died of suicide. Trust me, I had to go through it." Collin said, pressing the stethoscope to my chest.
Cold sweat prickled from my forehead. I wasn't sure if I was dead or not, which kind of made me worried.
The next thing I knew, Collin's bloodshot eyes darted to the side and he looked confused. He took off the stethoscope from his head.
"Collin, what's the matter?" Samantha asked.
"He's alive."
"What?" Mabelle exclaimed. "Git! Git the hell out!"
Her cane went flying for my fuckin' head! I quickly ducked down and saw a surprised Collin get his head knocked out of the ballpark and landing in a pile of painkillers.
I canned my laughter as best as I could but it came out. I sounded like a dying hyena but it was still pretty funny.
I wiped the tears from my eyes, holding my stomach because it hurt so badly. "Oh crap," I sighed. "That was hilarious."
"Mabelle, youre as blind as a damn bat," Collin said, his body stumbling towards his head and reuniting it with his body. "Should've hit the boy...what's your name, boy?"
"Devon Jacobs," I introduced myself. "Nice to meet you guys."
Collin smiled. "Go ahead, Mr. Jacobs. Shake Miss D'Vónne's hand."
I cautiously reached out to shake Samantha's severed hand, and before I knew it, the hand was jumping up onto my arm and scuttling onto my head.
Was I dreaming?
