"Sam." I said with a hopeful smile.
"Nope." He immediately said.
"But." I went to say but stopped when he glared.
"You know you're supposed to be my best friend so why can't you phase and bite Jessica's head off." I said and he chuckled.
"We protect the human's even the annoying ones." Sam said and I sighed. "We could say a bear did it. I won't tell anyone I promise." I said and he laughed.
"What did she do this time." Sam asked and I looked down to my feet. "She may or may not have told Bella that I made out with your beta." I said not looking up.
"You do realize I already know this right." He said and I looked at him confused. "When we phase we can hear each other's thoughts." Sam said.
"You weren't even gonna question me about it?" I asked. " I already talked to Paul. But I did wanna talk to you." He said and I sighed.
"I just wanna tell you a story. Before I shifted I was engaged to Leah Clearwater and at the time I would tell you she was the love of my life but with shifting came imprinting." He said beginning to look uncomfortable.
"She's not your imprint." I said and he nodded. "You can't fight an imprint." He continued.
"I know I will never be his imprint but right now I don't remember the last time I was as happy as I am right now." I said honestly.
"I want you happy but when this ends you're gonna be hurt again Zoe." Sam said and I nodded.
"I need this even if it's just temporary." I said. "Just know Emily and I we're never temporary were forever okay." He said and I nodded. Sam left for border control and Paul came out so we decided to go for a walk and talk.
"Zoe I want you to know I really like you." He said and I smiled. "I really like you too Paul." I said and he smiled.
"I want us to be together." He said. "It won't last Paul. When you imprint-. You can't fight an imprint." I said and he interlocked our fingers.
"Nothing last forever and that's actually okay. That's how it's meant to be. Let's make moments that will take a lifetime to forget." Paul said with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
I just kissed him. We are happy. We are happy and we are together.
