Chapter 13:

Today's the wedding and I've never been so Afraid and depressed at the same time. Today was the day I became Dagur's wife and it's the day I'll kiss what little freedom I had left goodbye. If my father was here today he'd tell me a bride shouldn't cry on her wedding day and he's right. If I cry today if I do anything my way today Dagur will hurt me. I have to be the good wife he wants if I'm to have a day free of pain. Yesterday he beat me for not liking the dress he had picked out. It didn't cover that much  it was to short. But I have to wear it. So I put it on and I braided my hair into a bun. The blacksmith came with a smile.

"Are you ready miss?" He asked as he unlocked the door.

"Yes of course." I said and got up walking to him. He handed me a Bouquet of roses. In one hand i held the roses and I took hold of his arm with the other. We started to walk and each step I took I became more anxious.

"Don't be nervous. You're marrying the love of your life. You love him and he loves you." He said and I smiled.

"All brides get butterflies on the big day." I said and he nodded. We walked in silence and soon we got to the crowd of people. They all looked at me, moving so I could get to the alter. Dagur smiled at me. Out of everyone he was the happiest. He put out his hand and I let go of the blacksmiths arm to hold Dagur's. The wedding started and I had to keep telling myself to be strong. Soon the vows came and as he put the ring on my finger a tear left my eye. He saw it and I just smiled, hopped he would take it. And he just brushed it way with his thumb and smiled. I said my vows and put the other ring on him. He smiled and I returned it. Then the part I dreaded.

"Do you, Dagur the deranged, take princess Sarah of prime-rose island as your lawfully wedded wife?" the priest asked looking at Dagur. I started at him.

"I do." He said with a cheerful smile.

"And do you, princess Sarah of prime-rose island take Dagur the deranged as your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest asked me as he turned to look at me. All eyes were on me. My heart told me to run but I swallow the sob in my throat.

"I Do." I said and Dagur smiled.

"Then I pronouns you husband and wife." The priest said putting his arms up and the crowd cheered, "you may now kiss the bride." He said and Dagur kissed me on the lips. It lasted for about 10 seconds but it was the longest seconds of my life. He pulled away and smiled. I smiled back and  he took my hand then walked me up the path to the great hall for the festivities.  First we shared the special ale made for the bride and groom. Then we ate and I couldn't help but notice Dagur's mother glaring at me as she put mounds of food on my plate. I couldn't finish it and Dagur got angry with me for wasting food. Then when everyone was done, Dagur stood up and put out his hand for me to take. Which I did and got up, where he lead me to the dance floor for our first dance. He turned to face me putting one hand on my waist and the other in my hand. I put my free hand on his shoulder and we started to dance. I started at the ground due to not being good at dancing with a partner.

"Sarah?" He asked and I looked up.

"Yes?" I asked and he smiled.

"You look beautiful." He said and I smiled.

"Thank you, you look very handsome." I said, he spun me around then pulled me closer to him.

"I love you, Sarah, I'm happy to call you my wife." He said.

"And I love you too." I said and rested my head on his chest as we danced. For some reason I felt safe dancing with him. He had hurt me in many ways but this was a peaceful, cheerful part of him I've never seen before. The part of him made me feel safe and maybe I'm starting to fall for him. When the song ended, we walked around to meet people. The hole island was there and after we meet with people, they started to dance. When I had met everyone, Dagur and I joined in. Soon the party started to end and people started to leave. Everyone but the family of the bride and groom left and Dagur's mom took us to his house and up to his bedroom. I became scared as we walked up the stairs. When we came to the door. His mother opened it and Dagur lead me in. It looked the same as it did the night I left only the bed was made and there was a new dresser for me. She closed the door and locked it. Dagur put his hands on my waist and smiled at me.
