Nakatitig na naman ang babae sakanya. What's even worse, he's inside his apartment, and this girl who stared him to death yesterday at work just happens to live across him.
Yes, he's the one who just moved to this city and this girl probably live there all her life, but he can't help the feeling that he's being stalked! The girl is literally staring at him from her window.
It took Edward a week before finding the perfect apartment. He wanted something spacious, afraid that he'd feel claustrophobic after living in big houses all his life. But the fact that the bookstore is in Bonifacio Global City limits his choices. His sister wanted him to live in a condo which were too cramped. It took him a while to find a 5 storey industrial building with studio rooms for rent. And the best part, the rooms on the third to fifth floors have floor-to-ceiling glass windows so even though it isn't as spacious as Edward wanted, it didn't give Edward the feeling that he was confined. It didn't have a view, of course, in fact the building across him was so close their fire exits barely touched.
He went home from work, dropped his keys and was just unbuttoning his shirt when he noticed a movement from the room across his window.
He took a deep breath and went for a shower instead, hoping that the girl was no longer there.
She still was. Still staring at him with a straight face. She looked almost...angelic in the night lights. She seemed to be his age, with small round face, and a small frame. She had long black hair neatly combed to her side, lax pink lips, and a cute nose. A complete contrast to how creepy she is behaving.
Edward closed his curtains and retreated to his bed, hiding himself under the comforter and not knowing what to do with his neighbor.
The next day, Edward tried to continue his routine after work. Take a bath, complete a set of exercise, call Laura, read a book or watch the TV. He had to do all this with closed curtains because surprise, his neighbor was staring again. And she stared the next night too, and the next. Punong-puno na si Edward. Binili niya ang kwartong ito dahil sa bintana, dahil ayaw niya na para bang siya'y nakakulong. And this girl is making his life impossible.
He didn't feel scared or shy. He was, in fact, angry. And this is the first time he felt angry at someone, enough that his hands were balling into fists in frustration. She was invading his privacy, making him feel uncomfortable inside his own home. Making it harder for him to prove to his sister that he can live independently, to be a part of a society even though that means dealing with the nuisance that comes with it. Anger turned into strength, and he found himself marching to the next building and knocking on her door.
