I giggled heartily as Alec and I rolled over in the bed, our lips breaking contact only slightly as we almost rolled right off the edge

"Oops" I shrug

"You're certainly very lively today" Alec's smile was stunning, it lit up the whole room like a burning candle

"I'm happy" I confess, "For the first time in a while, I feel like I'm finally getting a grip on things...well, most things. Valentine's still at large, of course, and then there's the whole Iris and the blood oath thing-"

"Mmm, I don't like where this conversations going" Alec whines, bringing his face up to meet mine, biting down on my lip with the slightest of pressure, "Can't we just ignore it for right now?"

"Mmm" I hum, sliding my hand deftly down his sides "I guess that can be arranged"

Our lips met once again and this time they didn't separate. His hands travelled from my cheeks to my hair, pushing the long, red strands behind my neck, joining them in a tight knot to gain more access to my lips.

Without thinking about it, I moved to roll over again but we instead found ourselves on the ground, laughing joyously through our muffled 'ow's'

"Ugh" I groaned, chuckling, "Way to ruin a moment, huh?"

"Doesn't have to be completely ruined..." Alec muses and I turn to face him with a quizzical look, "I was thinking maybe we could finally go on that date. Whilst it's briefly not so crazy right now"

He had a point - it was perfect timing...but, then again, it felt weird to be considering thing as trivial as first dates when everything else was happening all around them.

"What, right now?"

"Right now"

"Sounds like a plan" I agree, straddling him on the floor and swishing my hair over one shoulder, "If you can manage to actually get a shirt on"

It took us a good 20 minutes after that to actually be ready to go anywhere, our cheeks flushed, eyes shining brightly.

We had yet to go all the way, of course, but sometimes it felt like were were dancing on the edge of that line. I was always the first to stop it. I was still a virgin but...I didn't know if he was or if I was even ready yet...if we were ready.

I mean, we were only just now going on our first date.

"So, where to?" I ask him and his face goes an ashen white. He looked really nervous, shaky even, and he seemed at a loss, "Didn't plan too far ahead?"

"Not really..." he stammers, "I mean I had an idea...ish but I don't really"

"Wait..." I mutter, slowly beginning to realise, "Is this your first date...like, ever?"

"First date, first relationship" he confessed, still tripping over his words, "I feel so stupid! I don't have any idea what to do. Shadowhunters don't usually date, we just kind of fall in love and get married."

Though a weird concept to me, having been raised mundane, it did kind of make sense for Shadowhunters to kind of just fall in love and that was it. Shadowhunter nature tended to be all business, very cut-to-the-chase. Besides, why waste time dating and getting to know each other if you already know how you feel? Especially with a job so dangerous every second with them could be your last.

"Okay...well, I have an idea. I don't know if you'll like it...but, maybe we could do a mundane date night?"

"Alright...and about this date night makes it mundane?"
