Chapter 8

Cassie's POV

After we swam I laid down my towel and started to tan. I started to think about my past and how I've gone through a lot, all of the the bad thoughts have been erased from my head ever since I've been adopted.

"Cassie come over here now!" Mom slurred. I got up and walked to here."You're a dirty little girl did you know that." She got up and slapped me across the face, I started to cry.

"Stop crying you worthless girl!" She yelled,I could tell she'd been drinking.

"What did I do?" I asked still crying

"Oh you know what I did you little Idiot!!" She began to beat me until I fell to the floor begging her to stop.

"You worthless child! I never wanted you to be born I never wanted you to live! the world would be a better place without you!" She carried me to my room and slammed my head against the wall.

"Stop! Please stop!" I yelled

I was inturrupted by Cameron's voice shaking me. I looked over to him and saw he looked sad

"What was that all about?" he asked concerned

"Oh... Nothing" I lied, he hugged me and I sat on his lap

"You know you could tell me anything." he whispered in my ear.

There was a silence

"I just- just had a bad dream."

"About?" he raised his eyebrows

"The past."

"Oh... do you wanna tell me what happened?"

"Just my mom...abusing me" I said with tears at the brims of my eyes

"It's ok lil' muffin. I'll always protect you." I hugged him tighter

"Thanks Dad."

We were inturrupted by Taylor's voice.

"Hey Cam, Mahogany's here!" He yelled

"Way to kill the moment Tay!" he shouted back. I couldn't help but giggle. I got off his lap and followed him, there was a girl she looked around 19 ish and had really nice curly hair.

"Cassie this is Mahogany,Mahogany this is Cassie" Cameron gestured. I smiled and she hugged me.

"You look really cute" she said

"Thanks" I said and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear.

I didn't feel like surfing anymore so I walked down the beach coast with Mahogany, she's acctually alright.

I was back at the house sitting in the kitchen counter playing games on my phone when Shawn walked in.

"Hey Cass" he said

"Hi" I replied. He looked like he was going to open the pantry so I secretly put on my camera and filmes his reaction. He shrieked and jumped back a bit, I started laughing so much that I fell off the counter and landed with my face flat on the ground.

"Oh my god are you okay?" He asked in a paniced voice.

"Yea, Im fine." I lied trying to laugh it off.

"Your nose is bleeding!" He said pointing at me

"Oh gosh." I ran to the bathroom, got some tissues and cleaned up my nose.

" Cassie!!" Shawn yelled

"What?!" I shouted back 

"Come here!"

I made my way downstairs and saw him with the packets of Oreos, opened. I coulnt help but laugh.

"Did you do this?"

"Maybe...." I said trailing off

He shook his head and then stared to tickle me.
