"Cassie I have some news!" Cam shouted from downstairs. I got off my bed and headed towards him.

"What is it?" I asked sitting next to him on the couch.

He took a deep breath

"Someone is coming over tonight, and let's just say she might be your new mother."

I froze. I didn't want another mother, I hate mothers! They're so stuck up and selfish. I began to tense up and I felt tears approaching.

"Okay" I faked smiled pressing my lips together.

"Is there anything wrong?"
He placed his hand on my shoulder.

"I don't want another mum. Not after what happened." I murmured

" I know it's hard, but just give it a try. For me?"

"Fine."

"Hey Cass wanna play some basketball?" Taylor shouted from the front, I nodded and went outside.

"What was that about?" Taylor asked

"Cam's gonna bring someone over at dinner. She might be my mom." I sighed

"Don't worry, it's gonna be fine." He replied bouncing the ball " Do you know how to play?"

"Nope." I said shaking my head.

"Captain Caniff to your service!" He shouted so the whole neighbourhood could hear, I loved how he was so weird .

I managed to learn the basics and Taylor said I was really good. Soon Jack j joined us and he was amazing, he would never miss a hoop. After Carter joined and we had a 2v2 game which Taylor and I won.

It was 6:58 and Cam's girlfriend was going to turn up in two minutes. Everyone was busy cleaning the house and making sure the table was set. I can't believe they were making such a big fuss over this girl.

I sat on the stairs watching the clock that hung on the wall, it was like I wasn't even there. The boys would walk pass me taking no notice , like one of those time lapse videos where everything goes by so fast.

The doorbell rang, and Cam ran up to the door fixing his hair, he opened it and hugged the girl. She had platinum blonde hair and wore a high waisted metallic skirt with a light blue cropped sweater

As she hugged Cam her eyes met mine and she let out a squeal.

"Cassie this is Rachel, Rachel this is my daughter Cassie." Cameron said

I waved and she held out her hands wanting to hug me, I got up and hugged her.

Once she met everyone we started our dinner, it was okay, she's not the worst but I feel something fishy about her.
"So Cassie, how did you end up here?" She spoke taking a sip of water.

"Hmm?"

"You know.. being adopted."
Awkward silence filled the room

"Urmm... it's a long story."

"I have time."

"Hey Cass don't you need to feed the squirrel?" Jack J interrupted. What was he on about?
I looked at him confused,he winked.
"Oh- Yes I do, please excuse me"

I got out and ran to my room.I put on a pair of white converses grabbed my phone and headed out the door.
Finally I'm away.

To: Connor

Hey, r u busy?

From: Connor

Nope, what's the matter?

To: Connor

Come to my house. I'll explain then.

I waited on the front porch until he came.
He turned up wearing a red checkered shirt/flannel with black trousers.

"Hello." he said

"Hi." I got up and hugged him.
He smelled good

"What's the matter?"

"My dad has invited some other girl over and she might be my mum."

"Ohh right. Do you not like her?"

"Of course I love her soo much" I mimicked sarcastically "wanna go to the beach?"

"Sure, if we get there in a few minutes we could watch the sunset."

We walked for quite a while until we got to the boardwalk.The place was deserted,we sat on the sand together and waited.

"This is taking forever" I moaned laying down on the sand, which I regretted doing so because the sand was now in my hair.

"I remember when I first met you. Your face was priceless." Connor joked looking down at me. I stared into his eyes, he was pretty cute.

"Do you skate?" I asked

"I had a skateboard at 14 if that counts."

"I guess."
I sat up and moved closer to him so my head was resting on his shoulders. The sunset was so peaceful, I loved the colours in the sky and the seagulls flying around.

"I'm tired" he yawned

"Me too."

"For some reason I want to sleep here."

"That does sound nice."

I lifted my head and he turned to me
"You want to?" He questioned

"Why not?"

He leaned forwards until we were face to face. His lips softly touched mine.I felt sparks light up in my stomach. He immediately pulled away and looked stunned.
"I-I'm sorry. I just- really like you."

My face turned red.

"I like you too." I bit my bottom lip.
