I fake out with my left side hoping to catch the monk off guard. I swing my shinai and never make contact. The monk, of course, had already seen my next move and blocked it, then, as fast as lightning, he swings out into my unprotected right side. I grunt at the pain that blossoms in my rib cage.  A mistake on my part as I can't seem to concretate today. He hits me right in my rib cage and I kneel on the ground from the blow. I ignore the pain to block the hit coming down onto my face. I hold up the sword with all my strength and perform a twist maneuver, so that the monk's sword flies to the other side of the room. Not missing a beat, I twist my lower body and kick out my legs to try and sweep my opponents legs out from under them. They jump at the last second and tackle me to the ground. They grab me and roll over my body, so they can wrap their legs right around my throat. Think, Ace. How can I get out of this lock? Yet, all I can think about is Chico's knife against Marcus's throat. Why am I thinking of this now?

I attempt to punch at their legs, but they just squeeze tighter. My throat is closing in and it's getting harder to breathe by the second. However, I refuse the tap out. I pick my entire body up in hopes of over turning them, but I just end up using up what little energy I have left. I sit there and continue to fight against them until I am almost to the point of blacking out, but I still refuse to tap out. Then, a booming voice comes from the other side of the room.

"Tap out, Ace!" shouts Master Lin. I grit my teeth in frustration before tapping the side of the monk's leg. They immediately release me from their hold and I suck in a breath. Not my best Kendo practice, I suppose. Master Lin slowly walks over to my gasping self.

"You're distracted and too slow, Ace. Also, you do not always have to be the bigger person, especially in a fight of life or death. Dirty trick are also apart of your arsenal" he lectures me as he comes to stand by me. I rub at my throat as I try to regain my breathing. I stand up against the pain because I'd be in more trouble for continuing to sit there.

"You have much to learn, Ace. I gave you these private lesson for a reason, don't let me regret it" he warns me. I frown at the thought of having my lessons cut. I can't help but relive this morning and now I could risk my advanced lessons if I don't get my shit together.

"Yes, Master Lin" I bow my head to him in respect before I am dismissed to my next class. I enter the locker room and change back into my uniform. I grunt when I feel the pain in my side and look to see a large bruise forming. I tch'd and pull my shirt down to cover it up in aggravation. I need to get this damn kid out of my head or else.
